Here's the deal: the best thing about the St. Peter house is the location- PERIOD! Easy walking distance to Burbon St and Frenchman St.- which are well known nightlife areas, as well as public transportation to get to other areas of the city. A friend and I stayed there for Jazz fest this April and found it really easy to get to Jazz fest and navigate the city from this location. Also, the hotel staff was friendly, we got great advice from the front desk on navigating the city as first timers and places to eat.
The problem is, the hotel is very run down( not in a charming sort of way, but in a crummy run down, not cared for way.) We knew going in the hotel was old, that wasn't the problem. The problem was dirty floors, (the bottom of my feet were black every day from walking the floor) hair found on the bed, very few towels, old TV with a broken remote etc. It is clear they have not made renovations/upgrades to this place in awhile.
Bottom Line: If you are looking for a place to stay in a great location, close to Burbon for crashing and you are NOT picky about hotels- give it a shot. Personally, I would not stay here again, it is too run down for the money we spend and I definitely would not recommend it for families with young kids.
