We stayed 3 nights in this nice looking guest house, tastefully decorated and well equipped.
Very good situation in the famous(and fabulous) french quarter of NO, yet very quiet! Perfect to visit this nice city

We chose this place based on price and really enjoyed it. The king size room was clean and nicely renovated. It's only two blocks from Bourbon st so you're close to the action but have a quiet place to retreat to. I recommend staying here and I would book here again. Thank you to the staff of Inn on St Peter!

We went for Halloween and this was one of a few places we could find with reasonable rates. So we were a little worried. But we were very pleased. It's an older building with 'da Quarter' charm. We had a suite and it was quite spacious. Nicely furnished. Quiet neighborhood and only 2 blocks from Bourbon St. We didn't have a car. We walked everywhere. We would definitely go back.

This place is fantastic. It is off the beaten path. We stayed in the king suite (room 21) and had a court yard view. Very peaceful and quiet. The room was giant. Hardwood floors throughout and clean. Easy walk to everything. I can't wait to come back and stay.

We had the 2 bedroom suite on the 2nd. floor facing Burgundy St. It was fabulous!! Very spacious. Everything you could want and more at a price you can not find anywhere else in the Quarter. Yes, the bedroom facing the street was quite noisy at night, but you can expect that regardless. But the view from the balcony was perfect and all the extras made up for it. I will definately book again in the future.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, book a room in one of the inner courtyards.

We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay in our Two Bedroom Suite at the Inn on St Peter! We love to hear that you find our rates to be affordable without having to sacrifice our prime location and the fabulous ambiance that our wrap-around balconies provide. Although you indicated the noise was not an issue for you, we do offer complimentary earplugs for guests who may be sensitive sleepers or are not used to the excitement of the French Quarter. Luckily, the Inn on St Peter is located in the quieter residential section of the quarter, which allows for a quiet and relaxing experience than some of the hotels that are directly off of Bourbon Street. Thank you for sharing your experience with us and others on TripAdvisor and we look forward to having you back upon your next visit to New Orleans!

We have tried different places in the French Quarter and like to try a new place every now and then. This was our first stay at Inn on St. Peter. Like the small Inns and hotels in "The Quarter" the building is old and the rooms are almost all different from the room right next to you. We stayed in a King room on the St. Peter St. side. As others have noted there is no elevator and the stairs to the outer balcony rooms are old steep, narrow iron steps. I could not carry two bags at the same time up these stairs. The stairs to the inner courtyard rooms are a little better but not much.
The room itself was big enough to have the king sized bed, a dresser which served as the TV stand too, an end table, the small coffee maker table, a little stool and the armoire. There was enough room to get around without having to bump into furniture. The light fixture in the ceiling is interesting with a dome shaped indentation in the ceiling. There is an ironing board and iron in the armoire.
The bathroom was not big at all and there was no place to put anything other than a toothbrush. I though that it was kind of strange that the toilet paper dispenser was on the opposite wall from the toilet. If you have short arms.... well you get the picture.
Since we were there in December during a cold snap (at least cold for New Orleans) the heating unit took some figuring out but it did work. The Keurig coffee maker was a nice touch although there were a couple of days when we didn't get new coffee K-cups. A Trip downstairs got us some replacements. The TV was a newer flat screen and the cable had a lot of different choices. The Inn has wireless Wifi which worked well when we were there. The balcony on the street sides curves from St. Peter Street around to Burgundy Street. The view is nice up and down the streets. On the St. Peter side you can see up to the edge of Congo Square (one block away) down to Decatur Street by Jax Brewery.
Good: The staff were all very helpful and cheerful. Probably the nicest group we have had in New Orleans. The price was right, we used the weekday rates and got one night included with the cost of the other three. I don't say free because you pay for something, or get a discount, as part of the package.
The location is good, two blocks from Bourbon Street, one block from Congo Square and four straight blocks to Jackson Square. The bed was firm without being hard. There were plenty of pillows on the bed. Other than the aforementioned coffee K-cup thing the room was cleaned in a timely fashion each day.
The average: There is no on-site parking but they do have parking lot as part of the French Quarter Guest House group. It is on the other side of Esplanade Avenue near Frenchman Street which is about 11 blocks away but they do offer a no cost Pedicab ride from and to the lot when you check in and check out and the lot does have a security gate which you can enter via an electronic control device if you need to get or put items into your vehicle.
The building is old and as such the floors and balconies are not level. Put a marble on the floor anywhere and it will roll somewhere else. The door to the bathroom would open if not latched and the door to the armoire would not stay open. The balcony has about a four inch drop from the building to the street side in the course of about six feet. The balcony has several small iron tables with iron chairs to sit at while observing the activity in the area.
They have no breakfast but there are several places close if you have to have breakfast. It doesn't take that long to walk to Cafe Du Monde for beignets and coffee.
The toilet was running continuously but when we notified the front desk it was taken care of quickly.
It seems like all of the sound from St. Peter Street is amplified by the time it gets to the second floor. There is a ton of construction in the area and all of the workers arrive early to start hammering away by 7-8:00 am.
However, this (the noise) is not abnormal for the French Quarter but if you want total quiet get a room that faces the interior courtyard. Speaking of the courtyard is not big but does have some nice plants and a couple of better metal chairs.

The bad: Nothing was really bad but I am sure some people would refer to my average notations as bad.
Overall: This is no fancy hotel with 1,000 rooms, a gym, spa etc. If you want to stay in the Vieux Carre' expect an eclectic mix of Inns and hotels with different personalities and quirks. Would I stay here again, yes. Would I recommend it, yes with the above noted comments. The bottom line is that when you visit New Orleans you don't want to spend too much time in the room.

Room Tip: The inside rooms would be more quiet but you can't sit on the balcony and watch the city in acti...

We stayed here 2 nights before going on a cruise. This was a quaint hotel with a beautiful balcony and view. The room had beautiful decor w/ marble floors in the bathroom & the bed was very comfortable. The staff was so nice & friendly. We are definitely going to stay here again!
