This is a great hotel, and I would recommend staying there. I stayed there earlier this year, and it was right in the middle of town which was nice. We ended up walking everywhere because we were so close to everything! I would stay there again.

Stayed here 3 nights with my daughter on a college visit. Charming old hotel with an interesting history. Clean, cozy/spacious, with all that you would need. If you're looking for modern/ cookie cutter, than probably not for you The staff was always helpful and friendly. Very safe feeling neighborhood, quiet but a short walk to Bourbon St or the Riverwalk. If heading to the Garden District just cross the street and jump on the trolley. Great little cafe a block away that served delicious breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. i would stay here again in a heartbeat and have already recommended it to friends.

We choose this location because it’s in walking distance to the French Quarter and it’s right on the St. Charles street car line. This hotel is very quaint and charming and even though it’s a little outdated the service is outstanding! Carla Jane at the Front Desk is very personable and extremely helpful with planning excursions and things to do outside the French Quarter. Also, their other front desk employees, bellman and maintenance staff are very pleasant and they always have a smile on their face. I work in the hotel business and this is exactly the customer service I like to see.

Room Tip: We were in a corner suite, very quiet and beautiful in the morning with the sunlight.

Lovely, Spacious rooms. Immaculate housekeeping. Cordial ,warm staff. It's worth the extra for a balcony suite. Quiet safe neighborhood. Government center area. Grocery store three blocks away. GREAT breakfast place two blocks towards the quarter. Dined in the hotel on my last night. Ate light, ordered some sushi and house dumplings. The food was over the top excellent, and the price quite reasonable for the quality. There was plenty of it. I'm not a fan of quisine nuveau where they charge an arm and a leg for a pint size portion.
The bed was soft, comfortable and enormous. I vacation here twice a year. This was my first stay at the Lafayette. The Lafayette Hotel and it's staff surpassed all others. I won't stay elsewhere.

Room Tip: Stay on the St Charles or Lafayette Park side. Girod St tends to be noisy early in the AM. Leaf Blo...

Lovely large rooms, clean and friendly hotel with a authentic feel of new orleans. Hotel is looking a bit tired, room are large but have very old fittings, if you enjoy modern facilities this may not be the ideal hotel for you but we enjoyed the old feel of the hotel. The Lafayatte is in a Good location just 10 min walk from french quarter. Area was very quiet at night but felt safe. Information from reception was not great and could have spoilt our first night but overall the hotel provided everything we needed.

It was a nice hotel, nothing spectacular yet not run down. It is not too far from Canal. It can make you feel a bit secluded at night, so walk with someone or a group. Its a nice hotel overall. The curtain stick fell off a few times and the hotel was very dated. Those were my only negatives.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this hotel, not a chain and wonderful with its charm.
Dwayne & Joanna made us very welcome and were very helpful.
We were very pleased with our room, which was more a suite and despite being situated between the entrance to both lifts, you really couldn't hear them.
We too were greeted with a bottle of champayne, as this was our Honeymoon and it made us feel very special.
The location was great, right next to Julia Street with it's art galleries and just a 5 block/5 minute walk from Canal Street.
At the present time there are significant roadworks and whilst the St Charles Streetcar would normally stop just outside the hotel, you currently have to take a bus instead and swap to the streetcar further long the route.
We loved New Orleans and we loved the Lafayette Hotel.

Room Tip: Use 'Joanna's' name and she sparkles!
