We were in town for all the Mardi Gras Parades and we had the Lafayette stand seating david and his staff were very nice kind and dispite the fact that we did not actualy stay in this hotel everyone at this hotel were excelent freindly helpfull and specialy they went out of their way to protect us from the cold days and nights and specialy the rain that we got on mardi Gras day. They let everyone in ghe hotel to protect us from the very cold and wet day, let us use the bathrooms. I mean durong mardi gras noone lets you us there facilitys for free. I was so pleased to find kind loving people finally in New Orleans.
They defenetly deservire a 100 in my rating.

We found this hotel through the App: Hotel Tonight. It pops up a list of hotels that have last minute available rooms and their price. The Lafayette Hotel had availability and a great price. We booked. It is historical and has a great location. It is only a couple of blocks to Bourbon Street. We got a suite with a separate living room that had a couch/pull out bed with an armoire and TV as well as 2 chairs and a bar with sink. It was large and pretty quiet but in great disrepair (the lower end of the bed part of the couch was broken, peeling wallpaper, etc.). It definitely felt like we were staying at grandma's house. It would be great for hosting visitors and would provide a pretty good view of the parades from the windows. It is on a parade route which would provide easy access and escape ;-) We were not able to visit either the restaurant or bar attached while there but they were both very popular. The staff was very friendly... Southern hospitality feeling instead of a big hotel environment. We walked up past the Lafayette Park just one block for a fabulous breakfast! See my review of: Café at The Square. I will stay here again.

Room Tip: They are dog friendly

Very nice, well maintained property. Suite was very roomy and clean. Extra charges for parking and wifi. Parking was vallet only, but very secure, well worth the $30/day to park. wifi was $5 extra per day and very slow. Great restaurant downstairs, street car stops right in front of hotel. Front desk very friendly and helpful.

Big nice room with cachet. 10 min walking to Bourbon street, on the path of the cable car otherwise.
80$+4.95$ a day for wifi and local phone calls+3$ for safe+10$ parking outside and no breakfast included, though.

I stayed in a Suite on the 4th floor (411) sandwiched in-between the elevators during the weekend before Mardi Gras and had a quiet night's sleep without any of the noise from the parades. The room was a bit beat up and worn; nails holding the drapes up in the bathroom and no hot water in the bathroom sink (only cold came out…). The bed was alright except there were only foam rubber pillows which weren't very comfortable.

The location was excellent with easy access to Canal Street and the French Quarter. The St. Charles streetcar stops right in front which makes getting Uptown quite easy. There is a bar on site, but there is no restaurant for breakfast. A small deli is just down the street and there are numerous restaurant options in the immediate vicinity.

If you are comfortable with a 2.5 - 3 star hotel, this is a good deal. Don't expect the Ritz Carlton and you'll be fine!

Room Tip: If there during Mardi Gras, get a room in the back so you don't hear the Streetcar or the Parades. Suite 411 is tucked in-between the elevators and a very quiet room.
