“Old World Charm....The Charm is Gone”
Reviewed 21 April 2012

This hotel is located in an ideal part of the Frech Quarter, close to great restaurants and of course all the excitment of New Orleans.

I came here for a work event for 5 days. The rooms are extremely small (the size of ones that you would find in Europe). If you are a light sleeper, do not bother to stay here. The plumbing is loud, so if your neighbor wakes up before you do you will know it. The rooms are also very outdated. I know that the hotel strives for keeping their theme of Old New Orleans but their so called "upgrades" are not clearly seen.

The staff in the catering and the restaurant are great except for the those at the front desk. I do not know if they were stressed out since the hotel was full due to a conference but they were rude and unprofessional.

I have stayed at the Windsor Court which is walking distance from the French Quarter. Their rooms are decorated in a similar fashion but there is more room and the staff is much more accomodating.

Stayed here during French Quarter Festival and this is a great location to be able to walk to the different stages. It is close to a number of good restaurants and just to walk around the French Quarter. We have stayed here before and have returned because of the location. Royal is much quieter than Bourbon but the street performers on Royal during the day are just down the street from the hotel. The room and bathroom aren't super large but the bed is very comfortable, there are enough towels and they are not super thin, they have bathrobes, they restocked the coffee and cups each day, the internet connection was good, and the in room safe worked. There was a flat screen TV in the cabinet and I had previously figured out how the cabinet doors can be pushed back while open so the doors do not block the TV. We had a room with two double beds and there was adequate closet space and storage space as there were two small closets (one on each side of the cabinet) and three drawers. There was also a desk with a chair and another chair for sitting in the room. While I could not see the TV from that chair, I do really appreciate not having to sit on the bed to read or use my laptop while my husband sits at the desk. We knew that the restaurant was closed for renovations before we got there. The concierge was very helpful and made reservations for us for dinner at Mr. B's and a reservation for me at the New Orleans School of Cooking for an afternoon class. I also went to Spa Aria, which is in the hotel, for a pedicure. It was very clean and the message chair was relaxing. I got compliments on the nail polish shade when I wore sandals at work after I returned home.

I organized a group of 16 people to go to Mardi GRAS this past year. We planned the trip 6 months earlier, selecting the hotel Monteleon for our accommodations. We PREPAID, as required, for 4 rooms, 3 nights each at $300 a night in September 2011.

The actual trip went well, the hotel itself was fine. When we returned back, my friend (who was the first to check in and thus had put his cc down for incidentals) had a $300 charge on his cc which monteleon is saying is for an extra night. We have now been battling them for 3 months to remove this charge since we didn't stay any extra nights (and then crazy thing is that they affirm that we didn't stay the extra night but somehow are saying that we wanted one).

After giving them $3600, it is insane that they are trying to rip us off for additional money with no good rationale. I WOULD NOT recommend staying here.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Monteleone. We travel to New Orleans every April and have stayed at different hotels each time, while always admiring the Hotel Monteleone as it is a fixture in the city. This time, we decided to finally stay there and LOVED it. It is a gorgeous hotel with character/history. The hotel bar is a must see in New Orleans so it's great to have it right in the lobby. The carousel bar has started to do live music now and so it was great to hear music while sitting in the bar several nights during our stay. The location of the hotel is the best in New Orleans. It is located on Royal Street, a beautiful street in the quarter lined with antique shops. Cafe Beignet is right down the street so you can walk there for a coffee or beignets in the morning. You are close enough to anything you might want to do while also having the ability to avoid the noise and chaos of Bourbon street when you want. We would stay here every time in the future.

Hotel was beautiful and location was awesome for us. We stayed during the French Quarter festival and all the staff was outstanding, friendly and eager to help with directions or anything really. Glad I chose this hotel for my first trip to NOLA but I think the rooms are a bit overpriced. But then again it's the French Quarter so all hotels are pricey. I don't have any complaints
