“Mardi Gras 2014”
Reviewed 8 March 2014

Visiting NOLA again, this time for Mardi Gras. Researched a lot of hotels for best price and location location location, and I picked one of the best. Location great, right in the heart of city, close to everything, and felt safe, as a woman traveling with two young adult children. Hotel clean, the beds were comfortable but could be queen size instead of full, the service was great when called down stairs for anything it was brought to room fast.not noisey at all and we were on 4th floor, not far from street. Would definitely stay again. One suggestion, because of mardi gras letter was sent to all rooms that house keepers could not get to clean rooms because streets were blocked so a bunch of towels were left on bed and that's it, WELL Mardi Gras is every year so I do think the hotel could make some arrangements for there housekeepers to accommodate their customers and save a lot on paper.

Room Tip: Rooms are large, our faced Royal Ave quiet

I have stayed at this hotel many times, and have never had a bad experience. The location is perfect! Many restaurants all around. Bourbon Street and Canal Street are so close. The rooms are beautiful, staff is great.

We recently went to New Orleans for Mardi Gras and had booked at a different hotel. Well that turned out to be a bit scary and not at all what we expected. So rather than sleeping, I spent the night looking for a hotel. Being Mardi Gras weekend (2014) everything was either sold out or incredibly expensive.

Then I found Hotel Monteleone which sounded great, great location, and price was in a good range for last minute.

The location is excellent. Surrounded by restaurants, shops, a block away from a parade route and close to Bourbon Street. The hotel had great security, wonderful staff and were very helpful and friendly.

All our tours were either close to (within minutes) of our hotel location for pick-up or at our hotel. There is a Walgreens right down the corner for last minute items. Lots of souvenir shops for masks, beads, and gifts. This is a great location. We were able to walk everywhere which included the aquarium.

Our room was clean, great service for room service and other things we needed.

I will definitely be booking my next years visit and stay here.

Cute, historic hotel. Can't beat the location. Rooms are small but comfortable with large bathrooms. Workout room and pool on roof are well maintained and have a great view. I thought the per night price was a bit high but we were there towards the end of Mardi Gras season. Be sure to order a Fleur de Lis at the Carousel bar!

Hotel Monteleone is one of my favorite French Quarter hotels. As a native New Orleanian, I have been in and out of the Monteleone since I was a child. We don't often stay in New Orleans as we live less than an hour away, but decided to be a guest for Mardi Gras. Almost everything was fantastic. The almost: deceptive internet booking. I went throught the hotel website as the resonable price was only available online. I appreciated that the Monteleone did not have a minimum night requirement. The price quoted stated taxes included. At the final stage the quoted price with 2 nights parking was exactly what I had calculated according to the price list and stated- final price, hit confirm if agreed. I hit confirm and low and behold $63 additional cost with no way to cancel the booking. Upon check in we informed the clerk who apologized but said what could he do except inform the manager. No huge deal, on top of the $45 per night parking, but it was very deceptive. So snap a picture if the rate includes taxes for proof. We paid up but would have to reconsider going back as other wonderful hotels are equal in service. The tax included is no longer on the rate quote. Also, expect high prices in the bar: 2 tonic waters, 1 house chadonnay and 1 draft - $27 plus tip. Bit high but the Carosel Lounge is top notch in atmosphere. The bartenders are not friendly or efficient, but they don't have to be as everyone will always flock here for at least one drink.
On to the positive: our room was exactly as depicted online. Lovely furnishings, immaculate, Keurig coffee maker, granite counters. Our interior room did not have a view but was very quiet.
The bedding was excellent with crisp sheets and comfortable pillows.
The plumbing was wonderful - excellent pressure in the shower, commercial toilet without low flow flush twice annoyance.
The A/C: in room adjustment and it doesn't cycle off and on as many new ones do just a low constant hum.
The location - perfect! 2 blocks to parades and 1 block to Bourbon Street. Walking distance to the major attractions.
Wifi - $10 a night but free if you sign up for their preferred program.
Normally a doorman is on duty but by Mardi Gras afternoon when the taxis were no longer bringing in new faces and the tips were slowing down I didn't see one after about 5.

Room Tip: Rooms on Royal Street can be a little noisy. Beware of internet booking.

I cannot say enough about this hotel. Historic family owned hotel, in the center of everything! Great service, beautiful room, gorgeous hotel! Room very clean, very quiet (wel, we were on the seventh floor, so maybe the street noise would not really affect us). Beautiful rooftop view and pool. Very worth your stay and close to everything you want to see! Many, many, MANY spots to eat the local food. Bourbon in like a block away, the French market is less than a mile. Street cars 2 blocks away! I will return, and will stay here again! Don't be afraid to wear all your beads, feathers, hats or costumes! This is how everyone knows you are having a great time!

Room Tip: We did not have a view from the room but it was the best stay in an amazing city! Quiet, spacious a...

The hotel bar is a thing of beauty, however the wrong and the right server can make a difference. We were sitting in Tuna's section who ignored us completely. I had to go to the bar to get my own drinks. There I met Julie and explained our server was too busy to help us. Julie stepped up and gave us great service. She took care of her section and us. Julie remembered our drink order, and checked on us. She turned what would have been a below average experience into a great one
