“Great service ...”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

We spent 3 days in New Orleans. We had great service from everyone including the valets. Townsley Hamilton took care of us for 2 of the 3 days and did an outstanding job. The location is great. The staff had suggestions for all of the questions we had on eating and places to see.

Room Tip: Stayed on 14th floor. Not sure what the noise was, not terrible but I am a very light sleeper ??

Second time in New Orleans and this time right in the city center. Great looking hotel, with good reviews was a little disappointing. The biggest problem I had was the maid service that insisted in rearranging everything in the bathroom every day, including my contact lens solution and toothbrush. At the same time vacuuming could have been better.
The hotel is big and has a relatively small fitness area for its size.

Other than that the rooms were comfortable to a point, not above the average though. In general the stay was OK but I had much higher expectations from this iconic hotel. Big plus is the location right in the French Quarter, so you can walk to a number of locations or catch the street car.

The only reason we stayed at this hotel was because of referrals. Most of my friends highly recommended this place. I'm glad we stayed here. Very clean, fancy, decorative, coupled with outstanding service and location, you can’t go wrong. Parking is another matter. Stay at Premium Parking which is lots cheaper and not even 100 yards away from hotel.

Room Tip: Stay in room facing Royal but high enough to not hear any noise. (4th floor). Also, get to the Caro...

My family and I resided at the historic Hotel Monteleone New Orleans in late May. The hotel is located within the heart of the French Quarter (Vieux Carre’) on the suitably named Royal Street. It is also two blocks from the CBD which as a Banker made it easy to visit our main office while in town. The hotel is also within steps of the best shopping and dining money can afford.

It has been a few years since our last stay at the Monteleone but as soon as we drove into valet parking a wonderful gentleman named Mr. Earl gave us our first impression of our upcoming hotel stay. As a professional Valet at the Monteleone for over 45+ years, Mr. Earl has a PHD in hospitality, He warmly greeted all of us in true southern fashion, asked to assist us with luggage, inquired of our planned stay and said upon our check out he would personally have our car ready and waiting without having to call. This specialized, personally dedicated service surprised me because this is a large hotel and with hundreds of guest coming and going on a daily basis, I could not see how anyone could remember such a personalized offering.

Upon entering the beautiful lobby, our registration was flawless with personable and friendly service from the ladies at the front desk. They assisted us with all we requested and even remembered our names throughout our stay. My 6 year old son Landon loved the special attention they gave to him while answering his unending questions.

Our room on the 14th floor had the most wonderful views of the Vieux Carre’ and the famous Crescent of the Mississippi River. My son and my God Child watched ocean going cargo ships, cruise ships, paddle wheelers and tugs ply the rapidly flowing mighty Mississippi for hours. The 14th floor also gave my God Child Madison a fun time reading online about special guest that may pop in without warning. The hotel is known to have several ghostly guests that have never checked out. Maurice, the 3 year old little boy that perished in an accident on a New Orleans street while residing at the Monteleone with his parents provided days and nights of conversation.

The Hotel Monteleone is one of the finest historic hotels in New Orleans and having resided at other historic hotels in New orleans over the years, it was nice coming back to the Monteleone for that specialized five star guest service.

As a special foot note, while checking out on the Sunday, our car was in the spot and ready without prior notice just like Mr. Earl had promised several days earlier. This special gesture of service from Mr. Earl made us feel like we were the only guest he had.

Merci Beaucoup,
The Williams Family
Lafayette, La.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms facing the river for beautiful views of the Mississippi and Vieux carre'.

Classic hotel which has been carefully updated. Rooms are smaller than the chains, but very comfortably furnished. Granite and marble bathrooms are immaculate as was the room. In-room Kuerig machine was a pleasant surprise. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Roof-top pool is plus and enjoyable although was very crowded during the weekend. Enjoyed one catered meal which was delicious. Room faced the adjoining building so there was no view but was very quiet which is important when staying in the Quarter.

This was my second stay at the Hotel Monteleone. The location is excellent with restaurants within walking distance. I love the history associated with this hotel and it does maintain the historical charm. The staff was excellent. The Carousel Bar is not to be missed. Arrive early to get a seat at the bar. Would I stay again - definitely!

The Hotel Monteleone has set the level of enjoyment and customer appreciation at a level which will be difficult to attain from all competition.
The moment we arrived Doormen and Bellmen were there to unload with a friendly greeting and welcome. The reception area, Concierges and Front Desk staff all greeted our group with smiles that created a perfect "First Impression" when coupled with the beautiful and sparkling hotel lobby.
Prior visits had been business related and I never paid as much attention to the great hotel this really is. I decided to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary with another couple in New Orleans and choice the Hotel Monteleone based on their location on Royal which is a little quieter while still being close to shops, superb restaurants, Jackson Square and trollies. Best decision I have made in a while. We took advantage of the Carousal Bar while our bags were were taken to our rooms, unique and fun experience once you realize you are revolving versus imbibing too much :o)
We were fortunate to have a corner room with a nice view and friends were delighted at the Champagne, Strawberries, Wine & cold Stella set up for us in room. This was a very nice touch at a very very reasonable price offered during online reservation process. Recommend this service for special occasions and in my case just having ice cold beer waiting for me while I unpack and get ready for evening is enjoyable.
Room was immaculate, WiFi working, nice quality linens, towels & robes. Concierges Anita & Joey promptly provided me a list of recommended restaurants, tours, maps and some personal ideas for our week long stay. Reservations at Irene's, Mr B's, Muriels, Commanders Palace, Plantation Tours, Riverboat trip on the Natchez along with directions for trolley use and local highlights were quickly accomplished and confirmed. We had excellent tables and great service at all venues, was this influenced by their making reservations for us?? No idea, but possibly.

Room Tip: Higher rooms offer better view, preferred Kings provide a little extra room if entertaining, corner...
