I am an SPG member and typically look for Westin hotels. This place was HORRIBLE! The only redeeming attribute is that they have Heavenly Beds, which is a Westin signature bed. Here were the problems: The elevators are so old that they would give a creepy creaking sound when they are called and when you go inside. There are also so many different elevators that you have to take and its frustrating.

The hotel is not "kept." Walls have marks all over them, and overall items are just not maintained.

Even the front door of the rooms has to trim, so whetever people are doing or saying in the hallway sounds like your door is open and you are directly listening to people and they are listening to you.

The shower water rose to the top of my feet before it would go down the drain. Very gross.

Worst of all, we tried to go park in the parking lot across from the hotel and we realized we were in the wrong place. So we turned around (total elapsed time of maybe a minute) and the parking people wanted to charge us $6. We said we were staying at the Westin and they said "we are not a part of them." NEWS to ME!

We finally called the police because this lady would not let us out and the police said, "tough." So we had to pay $6 to get our or be held hostage to this parking lot.

I am embarrassed for this hotel. I would NEVER stay here again.

I don't understand some of the negative comments that this hotel received. We have stayed at this hotel 3 times. The first two times we stayed in a standard room and it was nice with an awesome river view. Most recently we stayed after a cruise from New Orleans and decided to stay here again. Being a SPG Gold member, I don't always expect an upgrade because I realize it's based on availability. After our cruise the manager was nice enough to upgrade us to a suite. It really made our stay more pleasant. We've stayed in their regular rooms and they are spacious and are newer that most hotels in NOLA. I love the location and the view from the lobby is spectacular. All three times that we stayed here, we have never encountered a problem with the front desk.
