During Jazz Fest, it seems like half the US converges on NOLA, which makes the usually easy to get rooms next to impossible. We selected the Westin by default since the Sheraton down the street was booked. The Westin is in a great spot, and we had a room overlooking the river, which made for amazing views. The lobby is on the 11th floor, which can be a bit confusing if you've never stayed here before. You have to transfer elevators to get from your room to the street level which is kind of a pain. The Canal Shops are a high end mall on the first floor which is nice, and there's a Starbucks there as well which is a nice convenience.
The room elevators, hallways, and rooms are getting worn out. It seems like this hotel sees a lot of traffic, and it clearly shows. While they try and give you the look and feel of a modern, spa-like hotel, it falls short with the worn carpets, fixtures, and musty odors. The beds were comfortable, and there was a mini bar, but no key???
All in all, an average place for what should've been above average for the brand, price and location.More
