“Best hotel in New Orleans”
Reviewed 23 April 2014

Over the past 20 years, we've stayed in six other hotels in New Orleans before the Windsor Court and I have to say this was the best stay ever! It helped that we got a good deal on the room, but you will not do better than their full suite, especially if you travel with kids like we do. The hotel is in the best location for walking to the French Quarter, Warehouse District, CBD, etc. We parked our car and never had to get it from the valet during our four day stay. The room was huge, staff was friendly and professional and there was usually live music in the common areas/lounge. I've eaten at their restaurant in the past, but we skipped it this time because it is very expensive, and quite frankly, there are so many great places to eat for cheaper, so why bother. We loved hanging out at the pool when we were tired of walking the city. We will definitely stay at the Windsor Court the next time we go to NOLA.

Room Tip: Higher floors for better views. We were in a corner suite on the fourth floor which was great becau...

We stayed here for a wedding anniversary getaway. I had booked a junior suite. I was thrilled when they upgraded us to a full suite. The room was very clean, spacious and nicely furnished. I loved the twice a day housekeeping and turn down service! First night, we found pralines on our pillows and the next night -- chocolates. On our first night, we returned to find a complimentary bottle of champagne with a note from the manager wishing us a Happy Anniversary. So sweet and unexpected! All of the staff we came in contact with were very helpful, attentive and professional.
We also loved that the hotel is a short walk from good restaurants, the St. Charles streetcar, and the French Quarter. We could enjoy what the city has to offer, then return to the peacefulness of our hotel. This was the first hotel I had stayed at in N.O. in which I was not kept awake by rowdiness inside and outside (even pricier hotels have been far noisier).
We dined twice for breakfast in the Grill Room. Pleased both times. Continental breakfast for one was enough to share. A bit pricey, but great quality food.
My husband and I both thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I told him that it will be the only choice next time we are in N.O.

The hotel is a very nice upscale hotel perfect for couples, families or business travelers. Although the hotel has been somewhat "updated" it still has lots of room for improvement. The bathroom needs significant updates.
Pros: staff very professional and helpful, rooms are large, jr. suites are a very nice size, bathroom a very good size but needs to be updated, food and service good, very quiet location, great views of the River
Cons: not in the quarter but an easy walk, bathrooms need updating, rooms near elevators can be noisy, room service very overpriced, parking extremely expensive

We would stay at the hotel again if we were able to get a good rate. Even though there are some negatives, the positives out way the cons.

Room Tip: Ask for a room as high up as possible and on the riverside

Dear TravelWarriors.

Thank you for writing about your most recent stay with us. We appreciate your patronage over the years and are happy to hear that our staff is what continues to bring you back. As in any city, New Orleans does have its peak times that are more expensive than others; however, we are about to start some great promotions for the summertime so I encourage you to check back with the hotel and the website as the summer draws near to find some value dates for your next visit. We hope you can find some dates that will match your calendar as it would be our pleasure to welcome you back!

We stayed at Windsor Court for 4 nights and were very happy with the hotel. It is not in the French Quarter, but on the outskirts off Canal Street. It is 2 blocks from the Mississippi and near a fantastic mall. It is within walking distance of the Quarter but away from the crowds and noise. It is an old world hotel with a big lobby and good bar with live music. We had their jr suite which was large, comfortable and clean. The service is excellent. The only downside is the price of food - our breakfast cost $85 the first morning so we started eating outside the hotel. And it was only average. A small gripe was also that the bathroom counter was so low we were almost doubled over to wash. However, the bathroom was large, the shower was big and it had a built in seat, and it was very clean.

Dear June P,

Thank you for writing about your recent stay at the Windsor Court. I am pleased to hear that our location, service and suite size met your needs; however, I am disappointed to hear you did not feel the price of our breakfast was worth the value. I will certainly take your comments back to our team to see how we may improve this experience. We appreciate you taking the time to post your comments and look forward to welcoming you back again in the future!

We stayed the Windsor Court in midMarch with our daughters (9 and 11) and had a wonderful experience. When we asked to change rooms after one night, the staff bent over backward to switch our room, move our luggage, and ensure our satisfaction. The concierges were full of helpful suggestions, ideas, thoughts, and opinions. Everyone was upbeat and polite. I worried a bit about how the girls would feel since it is a stately hotel with a traditional feel. My worries were unfounded! The girls LOVED the pool (which was bigger than the others we could see from the rooftop!) and the room service. They were completely comfortable. It's also very close to anything they wanted to do - the insectarium, the aquarium, the French Quarter - and anything my husband wanted to do - music, people watching - after they went to bed. It's totally worth the money you'll spend!

Room Tip: Club level rooms mean complimentary breakfast, tea, happy hour, and dessert. All those are really h...

For pleasure and on business, with family (grandchildren included) or alone, the Windsor Court has always met or exceeded it's reputation as the finest accommodation in New Orleans and, indeed, one of the finest around the country. From elegant yet user friendly appointments from the courtyard through the lobby and common area, to the spacious rooms, it's easy to feel "at home." From arrival to departure, guests feel the warmth of a gracious staff who learn and call guests by name. If fine dining is important, there is no need to leave the premises: the Grill Room continues to live up to its reputation for excellent fare. And don't miss the Polo Room to unwind at the end of a busy day! I know this sounds like a "canned" endorsement. Trust me, it's not. I have expressed my frustration to management about blocked days and weekend minimums. To their credit, management has responded with class as space became available. But this comment is not to tarnish the reputation of the Windsor: rather, it is intended to say to your readers that I LOVE THIS PLACE and want to stay there every opportunity!

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking the majestic Mississippi River!
