“Perfect hotel and perfect location”
Reviewed 21 October 2013

The location of this hotel is ideal, right around the corner from Bourbon Street. So you get the proximity without all the noise (though there will be some noise, it's New Orleans after all). We were within walking distance to Jackson Square, Preservation Hall, restaurants, the Charles St. streetcar, you name it.
We opted for the deluxe King room and I would highly recommend paying the extra for this as you get a bigger room with a sitting area and a huge bathroom. The rooms and bathrooms are gorgeous with beautiful marble floors and shower. Our friends got the petite King and it was so much smaller. We also asked for a room above the 2nd floor. The beds were very comfortable, though the pillows could have been fluffier.
The included breakfast buffet is decent, but just the basics like eggs and bacon and they serve the same menu every day.
I give them a gold star for customer service. One of the lens fell out of my glasses and I was in a panic. When I went to the front desk to inquire about a nearby drugstore to buy a kit, they sprang into action and sent down a maintenance man to fix them for me! Everyone on staff was so friendly.

My wife and I came to New Orleans for a week to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We chose the Mazarin after a great deal of web research. We were absolutely not disappointed. Our room (515) was fabulous - spacious two pedestal sink en suite with a large walk in shower, comfy bed, lots of closet space. We couldn't hear a thing when we slept, even on the noisy nights.

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful and always willing to help us book tours or make reservations.

The complementary breakfast was perfectly suited to purpose - coffee, juice, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, pastries, toast-able things. The food in New Orleans is so amazing that most mornings we chose to go out and buy something, but that is in no way a slight against the free one in the hotel.

The courtyard can be covered by a large canopy in rainy weather. Handy if you have some bad luck when you are there.

There are many great hotels in the French Quarter, but I would be hard pressed to roll the dice with any others, should we ever make it back. The Price to Quality ratio at the Mazarin was fabulous.

Room Tip: In the back, away from Bienville Street will unquestionably be quieter.

We're honored you spent your 10th Anniversary at Hotel Mazarin. Our associates are hand-picked and trained to ensure that our guests receive quality service which is of the utmost importance to us. When our owners designed the guest rooms they wanted to make sure comfort and quality were present for our visitors. I'm glad you enjoyed the enhanced complimentary breakfast. Our courtyard is the only courtyard in the French Quarter with a canopy to ensure that our guests can enjoy the courtyard during inclement weather. We hope that you have many, many more HAPPY Anniversaries!!!

My husband and I stayed here for 4 days in October. I was a little leery of staying in an historic hotel because of room size and thin walls. I am happy to say that the Superior King (#201) was huge! The bathroom was a nice size (although a little more counter space would be nice) and the shower was great...nice high shower head for my 6'5" husband and the water pressure was perfect. Even though we were close to Bienville and Bourbon, the street noise wasn't that bad. Loud mufflers and car stereos, that's about it. Couldn't hear anyone walking above us either.

The breakfast buffet was a nice bonus, but a little more variety would be great. Maybe biscuits or potatoes? The courtyard was absolutely beautiful and was a special touch of New Orleans. Luckily it wasn't covered by the tarp others have mentioned.

The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. They gave us several good recommendations for restaurants and directions when needed.

All in all, we'll definitely stay here next time we're in town. I highly recommend the Mazarin!

Yes, it really is that good. Why? The staff. Every single person we ran into was delightful from the front desk to maintenance staff. You must ask for pancakes at breakfast. They are a fabulous cross of a pancake and beignet. Great location and beautiful rooms and courtyard.

The hotel was very nice. The personnel were very friendly and helpful. The full Breakfast was a great way to start the day. Our room was not on the street side but off the courtyard. It was probably much less noisy but since New Orleans is such a hopping place it was noisy at times in the early morning hours.

Room Tip: A courtyard room would be less noisy.

We reserved our room at the Mazarin based soley on their web site and reviews. So, when we arrived, checked in and got our key we had no idea what to expect. We opened the door and were blown away by the room. It was gorgeous. Everything about this hotel was exemplary. We recommend the Mazarin without exception. You will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Book a room below the canopy which is used only when it rains. The view looking down at the terrace...
