Simply put, this will be our go to hotel from now on when in NOLA. Lovely ambience, great rooms and location, helpful staff. Quiet also, and the courtyard makes us feel like we are in Europe, which is nice when NOLA is a European city planted in southern USA.

Staff is very friendly, great breakfast which is included. Room was updated and clean. Very quiet facing the court yard and an awesome location to top it all up.
Had drinks at the hotel bar which was romantic. Would definitely return.

This is a nice hotel, right in the middle of the French Quarter, between Bourbon and Royal Streets. That's both a plus and a minus. We were there for 3 nights, the first of which was the 1st of this year's Mardi Gras parades. Screaming, car horns and loud music at 3, 4, 5 & 6am made sleep a bit difficult. That aside, the hotel rooms are nicely appointed and spacious, the amenities were good and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The included breakfast buffet was ok, typical of free buffets. For the tourist centering their activities on the French Quarter, it's the perfect location despite the noise.

We had three days to stay in the French Quarter, and with very uncooperative February weather, the Mazarin was the perfect choice for the class of hotel we were looking for.

The booking through TripAdvisor was easy, and we got a discount from all other published rates. Before we locked it down with a few mouse-clicks, we called the hotel and got great service and tips for reserving the perfect room, which for us was a Deluxe King Room, facing the Courtyard.

The check-in was friendly and efficient. The only small disappointment is that when we tried to check in around 2:30, we were told that our room would not be ready for another full hour. :( The bellman was very friendly, and checked our bags into the storage room off the lobby. So we walked around the French Quarter for our first self-guided tour, and when we returned, we were quickly checked in.

The room was just as promised, on the third floor facing the courtyard, but not into the rain canopy, so we never felt closed in. The room was very well laid out and appointed, with granite tile surfaces, and warm, if masculine, earth tone furniture and decorations. Considering the very cold rainy weather we experienced for three days, it really worked out well!

The bed was large and very comfortable, a relatively firm pillow-top style mattress, which we both enjoyed and slept well in. The bathroom was very nicely done, with a large high-end shower area with cool rain glass partition and very decent water pressure -- something that's getting tough to find these days!

And with the hotel located right in the heart of the French Quarter, off Royal and Bourbon streets, all the action and fun was right out our front door! Never needed a cab, even in the bad weather -- the French Quarter is quite walkable!

Yet, the room was totally quiet at night, and we could not hear any street activity or noise, or even our neighbors. The only minor noise was the occasional clatter of the service carts on wheels outside our room, because the tile all-weather floors. Perhaps Management might want to consider addressing this with rubber wheels to maintain quiet and a more classy ambiance.

The bundled breakfast buffet was very good, if not gourmet. I recommend avoiding the pre-made eggs, and ordering the made-to-order omelets and/or pancakes. The cut fruit cup was fresh, and topped with yogurt, was a nice way to start the morning. My only beef was with the coffee, which was very mediocre and barely warm in large urns instead of fresh hot brewed.

The dining staff at the buffet are charming and eager to please. I recommend that Management put them into action pouring hot fresh coffee, since they are often under-utilized and standing around looking for ways to help. We appreciated that, but not as much as we wanted fresh hot coffee with our breakfast!

The bar was cozy and adorable, and the bartender was charming and very skillful. The Front Desk gave us a complimentary coupon for one free drink, and we really enjoyed that very very much. The best sazerac ever, and she did not skimp either! It was a great way to get to know our hotel, its staff, and NOLA!

So overall, the staff was very friendly and eager to help, and so polite, as only southerners can be! Mazarin gets a five stars from us.

Room Tip: Get a courtyard room if quiet is a priority for you, although you do give up the exterior balcony...

Chose this hotel for our one-night stay because of the TA ratings. We were not at all disappointed with the terrific staff members, all of whom were quite pleasant and helpful.
Solomon, who will help with vehicles, taxis, luggage and anything else you need, always had a pleasant smile for us at the front door and was certainly quite friendly.
We arrived much earlier than posted check- in time and were pleasantly greeted by Larry at the front desk. He allowed us to check in right away, gave us two drink chits to be used in either of the on-site bars, which we did not use, and told us all about the breakfast, even suggesting we take advantage of it right away as it had not yet closed.
One bit of info here is that while speaking to the female reservationist about booking, we requested a quiet room and she offered the petite king on the third floor near the second courtyard area as the previous review mentioned. What she never once mentioned in the conversation was that there are 25 steps to go up and down each time, which were a bit of a challenge for us seniors, one of whom has knee issues. She knew we were seniors but neglected to mention that tidbit. Larry, on the other hand, told us immediately about the two flights of stairs and asked if that would be a problem. We decided to try it but next time would not. Even a nice female staffer near our room asked if we wanted her to relocate our room but we declined. So thanks to those two for being alert on that issue which may or may not be a problem for others. Perhaps the reservationist is new but she needs to make guests aware of this fact.
The room was clean, with just enough room for a king bed, two night tables, a credenza-type piece with TV on top, one chair, a closet with iron and ironing board, two robes, one pair of slippers and plenty of hangers. The shower was quite large with plenty of hot water, which was appreciated, as well as plenty of nice thick towels. Nice size bathroom overall.
We did not feel that the advertised "pillow top" bedding was all that comfortable, and when I checked under the sheets it appeared to be very old and well used. Also, the old, flat foam pillows need to go, with a much better upgrade offered. So please pay attention to that hotel managers. For one night we could make do but since the FQ hotel prices don't come cheap, we would like better bedding next time. Also, while the linens appeared to be clean, there were small stains observed on some items, probably having been there and reused over and over again. Perhaps the "better" bedding is reserved for the more expensive rooms, not sure.
The main courtyard off the lobby is divine, offering guests an opportunity to breakfast outside on nice days. We noticed a tarp above that can be used to cover the courtyard on inclement days. It is a peaceful area in which to enjoy a beverage, or breakfast, or just to sit and enjoy the outdoor space. A large container of water with fresh berries and herbs is always available too. One can dine indoors also. Breakfast is served buffet style, with good options for everyone, including yogurt, fruit, cereal, scrambled eggs, grits, sausage and bacon, plus breads for toasting and muffins, in addition to juices and hot beverages. Food/beverage offerings much better than the usual continental breakfast at other establishments. All of the ladies working there were wonderfully efficient and eager to help.
We did not use the fitness center, but it appeared to be quite nice. The business center offers two large computers and a printer, which was all we needed.
Two ladies at the front desk offered some restaurant choices, which was a good thing. We did choose one of them, just down the street, and it was just fine.
Because our flight was not until evening, Larry gave us one additional hour before check out, which was greatly appreciated.
Yes, we would stay here again, due in part to the location and included breakfast, but mainly because the staff members are superb. One could not ask for anything more in terms of service.
Thanks everyone!

The Hotel Mazarin is our new favorite place to stay in NOLA. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The suites are nice sized and the marble floors tops them off. The breakfast was more than adequate. All in all a wonderful experience.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for a suite with a balcony. It's well worth it.
