“R Club only way to go”

My husband and I think the Royal Sonesta is one of the best hotels we have stayed in around the world. This last stay we decided to try an R Club room on the concierge floor and found it was very worth the extra dollars. The little roof top bar area was perfect for the afternoon cocktail hour and the morning breakfast. Besides the hotel being spotless the reason we return to the Royal Sonesta is because of the staff. From the bellman to the housekeepers, to the concierge to the front desk person, across the board every person we encountered was helpful and pleasant. We will keep coming back to New Orleans, a wonderful city full or history and ambience. And we will keep coming back to the Royal Sonesta. From the moment you walk into the lobby you have an aha moment, I've arrived.

Room Tip: My sister stayed in a side street balcony which was noisy but fun. Our room on the 7th floor, R club...

We had a few girls stay here when attending a ball.... We were on the 2nd floor - Did not have balcony overlooking Bourbon but we didnt mind since were were all locals anyway.. Our french doors to the balancony was shared with other rooms, very nice & big & overlooked the area downstairs in the hotel .. like a french cafe .. very nice & very clean.. would recommend this hotel for about anything.. staff was very nice & helpful .. little pricey with the parking @ $40.00 per 24 hours but knowing the city & living here, sure tthe city has a piece of that action & hotel probably contracts that out so the city can make their $$ off of people as they usually try to do with their inside games...

We’re so happy to have accommodated your girls group at the Royal Sonesta Hotel! We welcome the opportunity to encourage locals to vacation in their own city. Thank you for sharing your experience and recommending our hotel for its ambiance, its comfortable guestrooms, central location, and most importantly our friendly, dedicated team. We’re sorry that our parking rates were not what you expected, but please know that our parking rates are reviewed twice per year to remain competitive, offering our guests only the best rate for convenient, secured, and covered parking. Also know that the parking garage is managed by Parking Management Services and plays no “inside games.” We’d love the opportunity to accommodate your group again, so please come back to visit soon!

If you are looking for the real NOLA experience, look no further. The Royal Sonesta is an iconic hotel located right in the heart of the French Quarter. It's a lovely looking hotel with grand features, all in good condition. The staff were all friendly, helpful and attentive. Check-in was quick and efficient. We stayed in connecting Delux king rooms which were exactly as pictured. They were clean and had the old world ambience I was expecting. The beds were comfortable and overlooked Bourbon Street. We went to bed around 1am when the street was pumping but had no issues at all with noise. The hotel is located right in the thick of things which was great, walking anywhere around the French Quarter from the hotel was easy (the streets are flat anyway), from the bars to restarants or just wandering through the streets marvelling at the houses and soaking up the NOLA atmosphere. We dined at GW Fins (amazing) and the authentic ACME Oyster House which were both great. Tip on the Oyster house, if you don't like waiting go at lunch or very early. Following the stay here we moved to a B&B which I have also reviewed, loved it for different reasons. The Royal Sonesta is the place to stay if you want to be amongst it all.

Pete, we really appreciate you staying with us at the Royal Sonesta Hotel and for your pleasant feedback! Our team does their very best to provide impeccable service, remaining efficient and hospitable while enhancing stay in New Orleans. We’re happy to know how much fun you had enjoying New Orleans’ world-renowned cuisine at restaurants within walking distance. If you liked ACME Oysters, next time we strongly suggest dining at our very own Desire Bistro & Oyster Bar located at the corner of Bourbon and Bienville Streets. Serving Breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, this full service restaurant features freshly prepared Louisiana seafood specialties as well as many of New Orleans' famous Creole recipes and some amazing New Orleans inspired breakfast entrees, as well as your favorite breakfast items. Relax at the historic oyster bar and be entertained by our oyster shuckers as they open and serve fresh salty Louisiana oysters! We look forward to your next visit, Pete. See you then…

We have stayed at the Royal Sonesta 3 times over the last year and have yet to be disappointed! For our most recent stay, our room was on Bourbon Street and it was difficult to sleep with the music playing all night - it finally stops at 5:00 am. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the staff were professional and very friendly. Parking is tight - so be sure to call ahead to make sure your car is parked on site.

Elizabeth, we are very sorry to learn that your last stay was disturbed by street noise. Please know that only 20% of our rooms face Bourbon and Conti Street and you can always request interior rooms for more quiet. Also note that complimentary earplugs are available upon request at the front desk. Also, we apologize for any inconvenience associated with parking your car during your stay. Parking onsite is normally available, however, during popular city-wide events we’ll park the car at a secured off-site location where it can be conveniently retrieved. Again, we greatly appreciate your feedback and post loyalty, and we hope to welcome you back soon!

If you love the "old world ambience" you will love this hotel! We had the best service ever and loved the concierge floor. The restaurants were fantastic, loved the Sunday brunch...a little pricey, but great food! Loved the area, so much fun... great experience, will go back in a hearbeat!!

We stayed at the Royal Sonesta last week for a birthday trip. The hotle was recommended by friends who stayed there last summer. The staff was extremely cordial and helpful. We requested the handicapped accessible room for a walk-in shower. When we came to our room, it was not accessible. Our bellman, Virgil, immediately called the front desk and assisted us with changing rooms. He also assisted with the names of some recommended restaurants. The concierge desk made booked restaurant and attraction reservations for the times we requested and called to confirm them with us. We were always greeted entering or leaving the hotel. The room was a good size and on the quieter side. The hotel is located on Bourbon Street, which was very convenient for walking, pedicabs and other public transportation. The only downside I found was the bed was a bit softer than I like. This could be due to a fairly recent surgery. I would stay there again.

Room Tip: If you want quiet, ask for a room on the back side of Bourbon Street.

I first stayed at this property in 1985. I have returned often, most recently in December of 2011.

Stayed on the 7th floor again with all the great things that go with it. Breakfast, happy hour and constant service for anything you need in the city. Treat yourself to some truly great hospitality in a fabulous room.

Make sure to go to Desire and sit at the oyster bar! I never tire of it.

Room Tip: Stay on the 7th floor-concierge. It is worth the few extra bucks for the service.
