My wife and I checked in the Monday after Easter and stayed until Friday to catch two days of the French Quarter Fest. I am sure you know that this location is right in the middle of the action on Bourbon Street which puts you in the middle of the entire atmosphere of New Orleans. You can exit the hotel on a side street and avoid crowds on Bourbon if you are heading to Jackson Square or dinner at another location.
We enjoyed our stay in the hotel from the moment we arrived until we left. I drove my car to New Orleans and you enter the parking garage on either side of the hotel off of Bourbon. In the parking garage the Bellman will assist you in unloading or loading your car and whisk your baggage and other items to your room. The garage attendant parks your car and I felt very safe leaving the car in the underground attended parking garage. Check in and Checkout when without a hitch. We had selected the Club level (7th floor) and we found our standard room very adequate since we spent most of our time wandering the sights of New Orleans. The room and bathroom had plenty of space for all of the stuff we hauled to New Orleans, the bed was very comfortable, the closet contained a spacious wall safe and the room was well appointed. Wireless Internet service in the room was fast and easy to connect. The 7th floor has a concierge next to the elevator and when we left in the morning we asked to have our room made up and it was always done when we got back from our morning activities. The maids turn the room down in the late evening and refresh the bathroom. The 7th floor proved to be a very quite floor and we were never disturbed by outside noise even the evening we turned in early.
We enjoyed the full breakfast furnished in the club and the evening cocktails and snacks which were included in the club level cost. The Club staff went way out of their way to assist you and would mix my wife Martinis just like she wanted. I was fine with the wine they served and each evening the snacks were different and very good along with a variety of cheese and fruit snacks. I think the value for your money at this hotel was well worth the price.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and go to Club Level, 7th floor. The Breakfast in the morning and Drinks and snacks in...

Stayed here this past August. The rooms are pretty basic, at least mine was. You are paying to be on Bourbon Street when you book this place. It is an awesome location. Great hotel bar, but extremely pricey drinks.

Room Tip: ask for a balcony room if you can

We had never been to New Orleans before so did not know what to expect. The cab driver dropped us off at the underground parking area and we had no idea where we were going. The street seemed more like an alley at the time. We did not realize that Bourbon Street is blocked of at night so the cabs have no choice but to drop you at that side door. After a little bit of looking around we found our way up to the lobby. We took it in stride and continued on as it was not really a problem for us. We arrived at midnight and requested a smoking room and had a few to pick from so we got a balcony also. The woman at check-in gave us a few suggestions of places to eat. We got ourselves settled and then struck out onto Bourbon Street. Wow was all we could say. What a difference when you step out the hotel front doors. IT was crazy out there but fun and we didn't get back until 3 am. Great way to start out our holiday in NOLA. It was awsome staying right there on Bourbon Street as we could go out and all the craziness was just out our door. Our room was on the Conti side. It was close enough to hear the night life on Bourbon but quiet in the room. I sat out on the balcony at night and took in the sounds. One evening there was a banjo player just down the street from the hotel and I could just sit and listen while having a relaxing drink. There was always something to see or hear from the balcony. When ready for bed we just closed the french doors, pulled the drapes and the noise was gone. We didn't hear anything except a little on Saturday night and I"m a very light sleeper. There are no coffee makers in the rooms but there is PJs downstairs and it really was not that inconvenient to go get a couple of cups to go. You can also order pots of coffee from room service if you wish. A couple of times house keeping forgot to leave towels or glasses but one call had them at the door within a couple of minutes. When we checked out we had four hours before we needed to go to the airport. The hotel doormen will take your luggage and store it for you until your ready giving you every minute left to enjoy NOLA luggage free. The service really is very good. I have no complaints.
PROS:
Best of Both Worlds absolutely.
Quiet upscale but old world charm hotel with friendly staff and amazing ambiance for everyone that stays there. You can't help but feel at home.
The courtyard is gorgeous the pool is great and its nice to have a poolside bar also.
Everything you need is right there either inside the hotel or just outside the door.
Very good location in the French Quarter
CONS:
I personally can't think of any.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony it will give you more of a feel of the french quarter. IF you smoke ask for a sm...

We stayed at the Royal Sonesta for a long weekend over the Easter holiday. The hotel is on Bourbon Street yet you wouldn't know it once you step inside. At night, security at the entrance checked for room cards and during the day the awesome doorman made you feel safe. The doorman was friendly, outgoing and helpful. He suggested several restaurants and directed us to a restaurant a short cab ride away where we had the most amazing po'boys & fries with gravy!! Thank you!!!
Rooms were perfect for our stay- somewhere to keep our things and sleep. The beds were very comfortable and on either side of the bed were motion activated night lights which were helpful at night!! Bathrooms were great... Lots of mirrors and good counter space.
Enjoyed their restaurant Desire twice and enjoyed both meals. DEFINITELY would recommend this hotel to anyone- we will be staying at Royal Sonesta on our next visit!

The only negative of our experience was on our departure day- during the Easter parade. Obviously no cab access out the front of the hotel as the streets were closed. The concierge seemed extremely hassled when we asked for a suggestion on what to do. He told us to wait until the parade was done. This was not possible since we had a flight to catch. We asked him if there was a back exit and first he said no- then said we could walk down a set of stairs with our luggage and leave through the garage. A helpful bellman was listening and directed us to the elevators and told us to head towards hotel montelone where cabs should be available. Luckily a limo service car saw us in distress and drove us to the airport for a price cheaper than the cab service. The only stain on our wonderful trip to the Royal Sonesta.

Room Tip: Chose a courtyard balcony room if noise bothers you... Or you can get out on bourbon street and enjo...

Great hotel on Bourbon Street. Front Desk as well as all other hotel staff were extremely responsive. Irvin Mayfield Jazz Club in lobby is reason alone to stay here - wonderful music starting in the afternoon through the evening, every day. Right in the French Quarter.

Royal Sonesta is a beautiful hotel! Our room faced the pool and it was nice and quiet. Hotel staff answered all our questions and helped with anything we needed. My only complaints were uncomfortable beds and the noise on Mon. coming from above. Might have been maintenance at work.

Room Tip: I wouldn't take a balcony room facing Bourbon Street.
