“Great hotel in the heart of the French Quarter”
Reviewed 14 March 2013

A great hotel on the 3rd block of Bourbon St,this is the place to stay.We have been here many times and there will be many more. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the food is a little better than Great. If you don't want the street noise at night, ask for a room off the street. This place is within walking distance of all the French Quarter attractions.I like it also because if you are partying on Bourbon St. at night you don't have to worry about walking on the side streets to get back to your hotel.Parking is secure and located on the property. The hotel lounge is also great and usually has something going on in the evenings.A+++

Room Tip: Remember rooms off the street are alot quieter at night if that's what you want.

We came to visit New Orleans for our second anniversary and absolutely loved our stay at the Royal Sonesta. Our room had a balcony facing Bourbon St. I enjoyed waking up to the live music every morning playing in the music courtyard across the street. The hotel is right in the midst of everything so we never had to use our car. Everyone was beyond nice, courteous, and helpful to us. If you need any help finding ANYTHING talk to the doormen. They are very knowledgeable of the city and area. We'd definitely stay here again.

All of the positive reviews about the Royal Sonesta are true. Quiet courtyard rooms despite the noise on Bourbon Street (request courtyard when making reservations or upon check in); spacious room; great jazz bar downstairs except...roaches in my room. The nice name for them is Palmetto bugs, but they are still roaches. Management was extremely apologetic and acted on the matter, but the room had to be sprayed twice as I killed just as many roaches on the second day after the spraying. The second treatment worked, and my third and fourth nights were bug free. Unfortunately, the hotel was sold out due to a large conference in town, and I was not able to move to another room unless I wanted to be on Bourbon Street. The complimentary wifi barely had any bandwidth, so this is not the place to travel on business. If you are looking to experience the French Quarter in all its glory, a bug-free room at the Royal Sonesta is a good choice.

Room Tip: ask for a courtyard room

We stayed at the Royal Sonesta for a week at the end of February, a few weeks after Marti Gras. We chose a room on the inside of the hotel, facing the pool and away from the street. It was quiet each night no matter what the racket on Bourbon Street. Housekeeping was exceptional. The front desk staff very helpful and friendly. We will stay there next time. Only downside was no coffee in the lobby until the coffee shop opened at 6 AM. Early risers have to venture out on Bourbon Street to find coffee.

Room Tip: We chose a room on the inside of the hotel, away from the street.

Visited daughter nearby, ended visit with two nights at the Royal Sonesta, NOLA. Hotel is right in the middle of the storm that is New Orleans, 300 Bourbon Street. Nevertheless, our room was quiet, made for a restful visit. We walked to a lunch nearby, dinner at Irene's Cuisine (recommended, especially the cheese cake made with Creole Cream Cheese - very light and marvelous) and of course, for my wife's first visit to NOLA, breakfast at Brennan's. Short drive or cab ride to dinner at Pascal's Manale Restaurant, long a favorite.

We found the staff at the Royal Sonesta to be friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and happy to offer directions and suggestions. Did not eat at the hotel altho they do have a complimentary breakfast as well as a concierge on the club floor (as well as a concierge in the lobby). Club membership is free.

Room Tip: join the club and stay on the club (top) floor

Was there for a wedding at the Musee Conti 2/2/13. Hotel is gorgeous. Staff was very nice and efficient. Bed was super comfy and convinced me to come home and buy down pillows!!Housekeeping was kind. The location of the hotel is PERFECT!! You are right i the middle of Bourbon St-with walking distance to CVS (which has a liquor department in it lol) If you want quiet, stay facing the pool. Its worth the extra $$! Will definitely stay here again- and when you go, say hi to Jeffrey at Bourbon St Pub and Parade ; )

Room Tip: Face the pool!!!
