Loved our 4-night stay (M-F) at the Royal Sonesta! Being our first trip to New Orleans it was great to be located right on Bourbon St. Everything we wanted to do/see in the French Quarter was within walking distance. And taking advantage of the night scene on Bourbon couldn't have been easier. We happened to have a room right across from a bar with live music that started early in the afternoon and went until the wee hours of the morning. At first I thought it was going to be a problem for my bf, the light sleeper, but turned out not to prevent either of us from getting a good night's sleep even though it was relatively loud.

Overall the hotel is beautiful and while we did not take advantage of the jazz club or oyster bar on site, they definitely looked like fun places to be. The room was comfortable and, more importantly, clean. I wish we had been there for warmer weather to take advantage of the pool and gardens.

The staff was great. We didn't have any major issues or requests for them to sort out. But when the battery to our room lock died, they sent up a friendly security man to fix the job quickly. We also had an early flight arriving at the hotel at 9:30am and the hotel was happy to accommodate an early check-in. After dropping our bags off to explore the French Quarter, the hotel had called us 20 minutes later to say our room as ready.

Getting five stars but should be 4.5 because of the noise from Bourbon St. (although it wasn't an issue and we never asked to be moved, but not what I would have expected from this kind of hotel). But we would definitely stay there again considering how convenient the location is. Also worth noting that there was a drug store only two blocks away.

We are honored that you chose to stay at the Royal Sonesta Hotel New Orleans for your first New Orleans experience and had such a good time! Please know that 80% of our guestroom inventory is located on the interior, some facing our lush courtyard or outdoor pool which tends to be quieter. And our 7th floor concierge level offers ultimate privacy. You won’t want to miss out on the live jazz at Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse and fresh Gulf seafood at Desire Bistro & Oyster Bar next time you stay with us for an authentic New Orleans experience.

This hotel was perfect! I was there on business and attended a lot of meetings but had a day to myself to explore Bourbon Street. The staff was amazing and the bed & pillows were the best that I have ever felt! I ate at one of the hotel restaurants that had windows open to Bourbon Street and you could see the activity outside. There was a jazz band that played right across the street too. I explored Canal Street and Harrah's Casino. There is a beautiful park nearby as well. The location of the hotel was perfect, there are many things to do within walking distance. It was a great trip.

Room Tip: Many people say to get a courtyard side room so you don't hear the noise from Bourbon Street.

Reading your review really made our day and we appreciate your gracious review! We’re glad that you enjoyed exploring New Orleans while here for business. Our hotel is perfect for busy business travelers that don’t have a lot of free time outside of meetings/conferences to still have an authentic New Orleans experience all within our doors: live jazz 7 nights a week at Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse, imaginative reinterpretations of Creole & Cajun cuisine at our newest fine dining restaurant R’evolution, fresh Gulf seafood at Desire Bistro & Oyster Bar and New Orleanians’ favorite locally roasted coffee at PJ’s Coffee Café. Please come back soon for business, pleasure or both!

Explaination of my title.. My room was situated facing toward the courtyard and I thought, wow, I dont hear anyone. I dont even feel like I'm situated on Bourbon St. It was so quiet.

Very friendly serves. The bellman, the staff in the parking garage, and Russell helped us with decideding what to all do on our vacation.

The room was alright. I actually felt like I was on a cruise. When you arrive in the lobby you will be blown away by the beautiful lobby. I love the Jazz club inside of the hotel. Although, they charge $13 for a cocktail. There is also a nice cafe and restuarant inside the hotel.

Be sure to know where the underground parking structure is. It is located on Conti St. At 6 p.m. Bourbon street is closed off. Parking is $40 per day underground!!!

The hotel is in a great location; however, it isnt kid friendly. There are 2 or 3 strip clubs right across the street. On the exterior of these clubs, all the pictures of the women are 95% naked. The men or women who own these clubs, will try to grab your attention right when you arrive.

All in all, very clean and quiet, expenisive, and Bourbon st is NOT kid friendly. Most people should know this, but not everyone does.

Lauren, thank you for choosing the Royal Sonesta Hotel and sharing your feedback. We are so happy that you enjoyed Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse, and we appreciate your recognizing our hardworking hospitable team. We are sorry that you don’t find our hotel to be as kid-friendly as you expected. Please know that our pool is now open making for great family fun! Many do not realize that New Orleans has plenty to offer families, most of which is within walking distance from our hotel: the Aquarium, Louisiana Children’s Museum, Audubon Butterfly Garden & Insectarium, a streetcar ride to Audubon Zoo, and swamp tours just to name a few. Please know that many of our guestrooms were completely renovated last year with more to come in 2014 and we regularly review our parking rates to remain competitive of other secured, covered and on-site parking garages in the area. Please come back to see us the next time you’re in New Orleans!

The most outstanding feature of this hotel is the staff! They are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to make your visit spectacular. This is a beautiful hotel, close to all French Quarter attractions. We have a small dog and this hotel does allow dogs up to 30 pounds for an extra fee. The only difficulty is that the first stretch of grass is a park 4 blocks away. I would've preferred not to be on Bourbon Street, but the hotel was quiet and has another entrance on Conti Street so you can avoid the chaos of Bourbon if you wish.

This beautiful hotel is full of lush foliage with a beautiful pool. The only draw backs are:

1) the in-room refrigerator cannot be used unless you are planning to be charged for the mini-bar.

2) being as this is right on Bourbon Street some of the rooms (like the standard room we stayed in) are pretty noisy at night. How ever, if you plan on staying out late to enjoy the night life, you'll find the black out curtains quite soothing. :)

3) there was a large gap between the door & floor, thus allowing a cold breeze to come into the room. Not sure if that is required in LA but bath towel quickly resolved the situation.

This is our 2nd stay.

Room Tip: Standard rooms are very spacious. Rooms to facing the streets would be quieter but you lose your cha...

This is a Sonesta Hotel, so you expect a certain standard, and this one delivers. The rooms, beds, bedding, bathroom and amenities are all very good, and staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately (for me, anyway), it's on the sleaziest part of Bourbon Street, so you will find yourself dodging the strip bar traffic in the evening, and the noise is not really conducive to getting a good night's sleep. Expect some revelers in the hotel to slam doors, yell and laugh all through the night.

You can do worse in the French Quarter, much worse.

Room Tip: I would ask for a room facing Conti Street, as high as possible, to minimize noise from Bourbon Stre...

This is a super nice hotel right on Bourbon St. Very well kept, super clean, and good customer service all around. I had a side street balcony room off of Conti St. It was pretty awesome, with the double french doors leading out to the balcony. Some say not to get a balcony room if you want peace and quiet, that is probably true if you are on the Bourbon St side, but on a side street, it wasn't bad at all. A little noisy from time to time, but I like to be able to feel the French Quarter vibe even in my room, so it was perfect for me. Room was spotless, comfortable bed, and a stocked wet bar. You are right in the heart of the French Quarter, so super easy walking distance to anything in the Quarter. The only caution I can give to those that have never been to Nola but want to visit, if you have kids, this hotel (although beautiful and an oasis from the Bourbon St crowds) is located in the strip bar section on Bourbon St. Other than that, it's a high quality 4 star hotel and highly recommend.

Room Tip: Get a balcony room is you want a view of the Quarter. Garden/pool side room if you want total peace...
