“Historical Charm with a Modern Twist”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2013

We truly enjoyed our stay here while in NOLA. The hotel is beautiful and definitely offers authentic New Orleans charm, especially in the common areas. The bedrooms have been eloquently updated to provide you with modern amenities. The pool is a nice touch with lovely lush garden areas surrounding it. Most importantly, I found the hotel to be very clean.

The service was top-notch and could easily compare to some of the 5-star hotels I've been to. I especially appreciated the doorman who was always so pleasant and even told us we better borrow an umbrella from the front desk because he could sense the rain coming, glad we listened because he was right. I also want to thank housekeeping who does an excellent job. And lastly, the 2 amazing servers (Dennis I believe was one of their names) that we had for our in-room dining experiences. The in-room dining breakfast was so delicious and the strawberry and champagne with a card was well done. These people helped to make our anniversary celebration one to remember.

The food at this hotel is excellent whether you order room service or dine at Desire or Revolution. The entertainment is also great at the Irvin Mayfield Jazz Playhouse. I am so glad I chose this hotel as it offered the perfect romantic stay for the occasion.

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper be sure to request a room facing the side street or the gardens. If yo...

Went ahead and upgraded to the suite which was pricey but more roomy. Wonderful hotel in regards to service, location and amenities. I would recommend this hotel any day. Location is right on Bourbon and if you get a room or suite on back side it's very quite.

We have sytayed at this hotel many times and they have fabulous rooms and suites with great service and a wonderful location directly on Bourbon Street. E hotel rooms have been redone about 8 years ago and the bar recently was changed over to a jazz bar and is delicious. This is a treat in a city well known of hospitality

After my sister and i decide on staying in New Orleans for a couple of days after our cruise. We looked at a few hotels then settled on the Royal Sonesta. From the moment we arrived we treated with a smile from the man who helped us from the taxi. To person checking us in he made sure we had a clean and ready room even at 10:00 am. To the bellman that helped us to our room. Housekeeping was very good at there job I never so much as thought something was unclean. No with being said I will mention that if your a light sleeper as that they don't put you in a room that faces Bourbon St. Even thougt we were on the 5th floor we could still hear the music. Which didn't bother us to much.

We are so pleased that you chose to extend your cruise vacation at the Royal Sonesta Hotel after arriving in New Orleans. Thank you for your review and your compliments on our housekeeping and guest room cleanliness. We are sorry to read of the noise that you experienced, but please know that 80% of our guest room inventory is located off of Bourbon Street. On future stays with us we hope to accommodate you in one of those many rooms. Thanks again!

Celebrating our 39th Anniversary we decided to do a " STAY-VACATION". My husband talked me into allowing him to plan our special weekend. Not even knowing where we were going until that day from the moment we were welcomed and acknowledged of our anniversary by Chris the rest was like being in Disney World. Ms Mae ( manager of in- room services) had conversation with my husband the whole week assuring him she would take care of his wishes. When we entered our room we both were bought to tears . Ms Keshia served us our in room dinner with much love. She also went out her way to please and compliment us. And last but not least Ms Ashley assisted us with our request for late check- out . She made our departure as memorable as our arrival. Thanks again staff of RS for a JOB WELL DONE !!! We shall return

Room Tip: Bed was very comfortable but do not get a balcony on Bourbon if you cannot tolerate a lot of noise...

I loved this hotel overall. The location was perfect and room quite comfortable. I'm a big fan of old hotels and well aware that they all have certain charms that one must deal with.

When we arrived, we were given a room with one king bed. We had booked a room with two double beds. A call down to the desk and we were informed that no other rooms were available but they would send up a rollaway bed. Not a big problem but an unnecessary inconvenience.

The real issue was the next morning. At 7:27 am, we were awakened by the sounds of screaming children playing in the pool outside. This wasn't just a yell every now and then but constant squeals and screams as kids were jumping in the pool. I called down to the desk to ask if there were quiet hours for the pool and was told that no, there were not. Being on Bourbon Street, it's not unreasonable to expect that people have been out late the night before and would enjoy some quiet morning hours in order to sleep.

I enjoyed this hotel but will seek accommodation elsewhere next time simply based on the staff's unwillingness to keep things quiet for their guests.

We really appreciate your taking the time to share this feedback of your recent stay with us. We apologize for being unable to accommodate your request for a double room and that you were disturbed by other guests in the hotel who took advantage of our sunrise to sunset pool hours. For future stays with us please know that we do offer other room types in the interior of the hotel that are not directly near the pool and may provide you with more restful mornings.
