The RS has got to be the premier place to stay in New Orleans.
They have mastered the art of providing exceptional service at all levels and to all functions.
My Vietnam Special Forces friends and wives ALL gave my selection of the RS an A+.
Our thanks to the entire staff for a wonderful time and comfortable stay.

We weren't thrilled with the Royal Sonesta, but if you're visiting NOLA and looking to party all night long, this might be the place for you. Located right on Bourbon St. Very noisy and not as clean as I would expect for the cost. Very odd smells right outside our room, plus the odor of Bourbon street right outside the main hotel entrance is sickening.

With that said - the location is great - right in the heart of the French Quarters. Shopping and dining was convenient by foot.

I've stayed at this lovely hotel many times on business trips. This was a special holiday with my special one. Never staying in a Bourbon Street balcony room before, I chose one for this event. It was fun but loud. I do recommend trying it....but just for one night. Well worth the noise!

If you like character and history this is a great place to stay. You can't be any closer to the action and the hotel itself is a peaceful oasis in the eye of the storm. The courtyards and pool deck are charming - the jazz bar in the lobby is epic. Desire is great for afternoon snacking. Beds and linens are very comfy and our room facing the inner courtyard with balcony was the perfect New Orleans retreat. Also really appreciated the art on display throughout the hotel - kudos to the owners and management.

We will be back.

Room Tip: Courtyard balcony is the only way to go

My son and I enjoyed a lovely weekend in New Orleans during spring break, and this hotel was a big reason everything worked. Fritzel's jazz music bar? just down Bourbon Street for fabulous music and no cover charge. Galatoires for lunch on Saturday? Across the street and so nice for a long lunch. NOLA for dinner? Around the corner for a busy but delicious dinner. The Royal Sonesta staff was very helpful, and the jazz music at the hotel is good as well - you don't even have to leave the hotel for good music! We had an interior room facing the courtyard/pool with french doors to access the area which was very nice and quiet. Sitting by the pool for the afternoon can work as well. The concierge staff always gives good suggestions. I enjoy several hotels in the French Quarter (Omni, Soniat House, Bienville, Ritz Carlton) but I always return to this one and am always glad I did. The fresh flowers throughout the lobby are always a nice treat. The walk to the Spotted Cat (great music on Frenchman) is kinda long but interesting the entire way.

Room Tip: The interior rooms that have french doors onto the pool level are nice (pay the extra money for an i...

Great location! The price was right, the staff was friendly and accommodating. The Royal Sonesta on Bourbon Street allow our diverse group to mix business and recreation. I would defiantly come back for either another business meeting or with the family.

Beautiful hotel! Perfect location on Bourbon Street, you will never have to drive anywhere. I could see that it could be loud on the outer rooms on Bourbon street but we had an inner courtyard room by the pool that was perfect. Our room was clean, staff was friendly and helpful. The only thing that I will say is be prepared for a parking fee of $39.00 per day. The hotel taxes are a bit high as well. But if you can afford to be here in the first place, that should not be an issue! Enjoy! Also, the Jazz Bar in this hotel is one of the top places in NOLA to visit. The Desire Oyster Bar is also a must! They have awesome shrimp and grits, delish gumbo....

Room Tip: Inner courtyard rooms quiet. Walked on Bourbon Street, then rested quietly here.
