Very happy with the staff and room. I would recommend only staying One night in a Balcony room on Bourbon street tho.Unless you don't mind not getting any sleep. :) .All in all we would stay here again, just not in a Bourbon street Balcony room.More

Colleen, thank you so much for choosing to stay at the Royal Sonesta New Orleans and taking the time to share these comments. We are glad that you enjoyed our happy team and comfortable accommodations, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon!
Stayed here April 2013 as the first stop on our honeymoon. The hotel Is in a perfect location on bourbon street. When we arrived it was about midnight, and the atmosphere / vibe in the place was electric.
The hotel itself is gorgeous in the lobby area, with a huge floral arrangement as the centre piece, the decor is just amazing and the perfect place to start our honeymoon.
Staff were friendly and helpful with any queries etc
The room was a bit of a let down, it just didn't match up to our expectations based on the lobby area. However it was clean, with plenty of towels etc.
There is also a pool area, which although small, was great considering the city centre location.
I would strongly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting New Orleans, as it's perfectly located near all the bars, and quaint French quarter restaurants just off bourbon.
Johnsie, first and foremost CONGRATULATIONS on your recent nuptials! We are honored that you chose to stay with us at the Royal Sonesta New Orleans for your honeymoon and greatly appreciate your high recommendation. Thank you for your review. We wish you a happy marriage and look forward to celebrating your anniversary for years to come.
I have stayed at this property several times years ago. Based on my glowing reviews our best friends came along and I booked two rooms. I had booked directly thru the hotel and was told by the reservation agent the special package included a $25.00 promotional credit towards your choice of costs on property. We were put in a recently renovated area of the hotel and it was nice and modern. There was an enormous gap between the bottom of the door and the floor wide enough that you needed to place a pillow there to muffle the noise from the hallway. Our shower had mold all along one wall. Our friends room had a complimentary bottle of water and pralines and our room had a bottle of Evan that was $6.50 should you need a drink of water. Our friends checked out a day prior to us and were told the credit did not apply towards parking I happened to be standing there and spoke up about the package I had personally booked for us both, the clerk then said I had obviously booked it thru a discount site. I assured her I had not. I think Mickie was having a bad day. Our friends went to their car after the said discount was applied. I received a text an HOUR later from our friends who were still waiting in the parking structure for their car in the sweltering heat. They were told if you arrive mid week your vehicle is moved off site to accommodate the weekend guests. While they were waiting outside withering in the heat they stood in horror and watched as a blonde bombshell sauntered up to a valet and whispered in his ear and magically her car was pulled up within 10 minutes. Off site? An hour? Later that night we had a security issue and I requested the hotel security guard to come to our room. I had seen him out on Bourbon street talking to a group of girls having a grand old time rather than being at his post checking guests room keys upon entering. He never came, I called the New Orleans Police department myself and dealt with it. When we went to check out we were greeted once again by Mickie who apparently was having another bad day and she actually tried to tell me the same $25.00 promotional credit couldn't be used as a credit towards our bill!!! Seriously???? I had the original paperwork in my carry on and took it out and showed her the package I had booked. At that point I asked for a manager and out came Jessica. I think in order to be an employee of The Royal Sonesta you are trained to act as if YOU as an employee are doing the guest A FAVOR by letting them stay at the hotel. After much back and forth with Jessica and her completely arguing with me over the promotional credit I was told she had "no way of crediting the $75.00" to our room. I informed her of the champagne I had requested TWICE to no avail and about her disappearing security guard and then I told her of our friends waiting in the heat for an hour for their off site parked car only then, for some reason she found the magic button to press and apply our credit which is what we had paid for. I have a huge problem with this due to the fact it isn't as if we were asking for anything for free we were simply asking to get what we had booked. Poorly, poorly trained front desk staff - so completely unprofessional. This hotel is just not as it appears to be from the lobby. I don't need to be treated as if they are doing me a favor by letting me stay there and our friends waiting for an hour for their car outside is appalling !!!! If you offer a "package " then I would expect a property to honor it. They tried to deny the package rates to both our rooms a day apart. Hmmmm, I am seeing a pattern here. Go to another hotel unless you just don't care!!!!

My husband and I enjoyed our recent stay at this hotel. The front desk service was excellent! The gentleman that checked us in was very accommodating! The upper levels have a very fun cocktail hour! We will be back again very soon!

I've stayed at dozens of hotels in New Orleans, but have never had the opportunity to stay at the Royal Sonesta. I purchased a two night stay through Living Social, and was excited to stay in what was advertised as a 4 Star hotel. The hotel location is ideal for tourists who enjoy the French Quarter. But the interior, amenities, and service are not on par with other 4 Star hotels in in New Orleans. My husband had requested flowers and champagne be waiting in my room when I arrived, however they were not there. After two hours, and two calls to the front desk, the staff then informed me that the flowers and champagne had been placed in another room. We ordered room service for breakfast. The food was very good, but again, we had to call the desk twice to request that the table and trays be removed from the room. We were promised that someone was on the way to get them, but no one came. The hotel has a small workout room, and a small pool. There is no spa.
If I had paid full price for this hotel, I would have complained upon check out. However, we got this room through a discount website, so I feel like I got what I paid for. If you are looking for a true upscale hotel experience in New Orleans, I suggest the Roosevelt, Windsor Court, the Monteleone, or the Loews Hotel.
Erin, thank you for purchasing our Living Social deal and taking the time to bring these observations to our attention. Please know that an exciting hotel-wide renovation is planned for next year and will touch each room from top to bottom. We hope you that you will give us another try after the renovations.
This was our first trip to NOLA. We loved every minute at the Royal Sonesta! Check-in/out was easy. Parking was a breeze. Irving Mayfield Jazz Playhouse had amazing music & drinks! Desire Oyster Bar had the best oysters on the half shell, great service & drinks! The room was comfortable (best bed anywhere) and quiet. There was great water pressure.... the A/C kept us nice and cool. We closed the outer blinds and that made it even darker at night. The robes were so comfy we bought them! Room service was exquisite! All of the employees were friendly & knew the area well. I can't imagine staying anywhere else when we return! When in NOLA, be sure to enjoy the VIP City Tour (2 hours/ air conditioned bus) and ask for Henry as your guide! EXCELLENT!
