“Great staff at a nice hotel in the French Quarter”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

We decided last minute to book a quick two-night trip to New Orleans for the Crescent City Blues and BBQ festival weekend (Oct. 19-20) and were looking for a reasonable rate in a nice French Quarter hotel. We had stayed at the Prince Conti more than 20 years ago and were happy with it, so we decided to go back. We were not disappointed.

The location is just off Bourbon Street, but our room, which overlooked Conti Street, was very quiet. Though the room could use a tiny bit of updating, it was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The king bed was perfect for us, neither too firm nor too soft. The shower had great water pressure and the bathroom was spotless. The café was fine enough for grabbing a quick breakfast on the way out the door.

But what we really like about the Prince Conti is the staff. Friendly and willing to go the extra mile from the very first phone call to our good-byes at check-out and whenever we went out or returned, the staff greeted us with a smile and a few kind words every time. I mentioned we were celebrating a wedding anniversary while in town, and a bottle of French bubbly was delivered to our room the first night with a card and note from the staff.

I’m sure we’ll return again and will not let so much time elapse next time!

The Prince Conti is 1/2 block off Bourbon Street, was very clean, the staff was very helpful, the bed was comfortable, and the free WI-FI worked. It is walkable to everything and is a few blocks away from the trolley stop on Canal Street. The hotel is 150 years old, and it does not resemble a Red Roof Inn. The furniture is all antique reproductions. The plaster in the bathroom was cracked, and the moldings were dented, the same as I found in two of the better restaurants in the French Quarter. I will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Loved the view of Conti Street.

Most important advice is not to get a room facing street. One half of our group was in a suite on 2nd floor facing street. it sounded as if windows were open with huge spillover from Bourbon St. Last night was the worse with cars parked outside with music blaring thru mid Sunday morning. Why would management allow this? Other room not facing street was better but you can hear conversations in adjacent rooms! Ask for quiet rooms
The staff is great. Cafe and restaurant very good. It had all of the charm of an old New Orleans Hotel . perhaps on a quieter weekend we would have gotten some sleep

Room Tip: Ask for quietest room

We stayed for 5 nights (me, my husband and mother-in-law) in the Executive Suite and it was wonderful. The room was quiet; we could not hear any noise from Bourbon St. which was a short 1/2 block walk from Prince Conti. Everyone at the front desk was helpful; sorry we don't remember all your names except for Lisa and Cindy but you were all terrific. Also Willie (or William) the porter was very helpful and welcoming. The room was cleaned every day.

Room Tip: If you need quiet + a big table for 6 people, a full-sized kitchen, and a small patio, ask for Room...

The best thing about Prince Conti is the location! You are about 1/2 block from Bourbon Street but far enough to get away from the noise at night. I was a little disappointed at first with the lack of a view (faced an inside wall) but then realized we wouldn't have to deal with the street noise at night. Room was a good size, bathroom was very small, carpet was stained and needed replacing. Staff was very accommodating. Hotel is in a historic building so the walls are thin. If you are looking for a moderate priced hotel in the heart of the French Quarter, the Prince Conti is worth considering. Most other hotels in the area are much more expensive.

Stayed here for 5 days. The room was great, the bathroom was a little small but thats my only complaint. The staff was fabulous and it was clean and well kept. On Saturday night we could hear some sounds from Bourbon St. but it didn't really bother me too much. Will definitely stay there again!
