“Very adequate hotel”
Reviewed 15 June 2011

This was a very nice three star hotel - but for a three star hotel, I would give it five stars. The breakfast was pretty much standard supermarket danish with juice and coffee, and the cleaning staff not perfect (they forgot to empty the coffee pot, and forgot to leave shampoo) but the complaints were minor, the rooms pleasant, the courtyard cute, the swimming pool adequate, the location perfect. We requested, and got, a room away from the street, so there wasn't any noise. For those of you who would rather spend your money on something besides where you sleep, this is a perfect choice.

Asked for a balcony room on the street, got one on the courtyard with cigarette butts which weren't cleared in 5 days. The room rug was stained, and the bed soft and springs poked out. The tv was old and unclear in scarred cabinet and channel selection limited. Wifi was free but off much of the day. We won't stay again. Continental breakfast very limited. Front desk staff are helpful.

I was traveling to meet friends in New Orleans, and stayed at the Hotel St. Marie for two nights. I have to say, best rates for such a lovely hotel in a great location. My room wasn't one of the balcony rooms, but had a nice view of the city from the window. The room was immaculate, comfortable bed, and very comfortable! The hotel also has a lovely pool and courtyard area which was great for sitting and having some drinks at night after 'doing the town'...nice area for quiet conversation! Bourbon street was only two block walk, and the market was just a bit further. The staff was courteous and helpful. Valet parking at the hotel is cheaper than any close parking within the city. I consider it well worth the expense paid to have the car right there. The walls were a bit thin, so if you are a light sleeper you might hear doors open and close a lot, I wasn't there during peak Mardi Gras, so I can't say if it would be noisy then, but it was definitely quiet during my stay. I'll definitely stay there again!

A couple on the 2nd floor was causing a disturbance and we called the lobby twice to get the police because there was a child involved. The staff received several calls from other guests besides us and never called 911. After calling them twice, we had to call 911 ourselves because the young boy was out in the hall while his mom and another person were in the room physically fighting. Very disappointed in the staff's attitude toward the situation. Would not stay again, it was pricey and without any security.

This guest is not aware of the immediate action taken by the hotel front desk staff to call New Orleans Police to handle this matter - which is exactly what transpired. As a restult, the matter was resolved quickly and without diffuculty for all parties involved.

Elevator, one elevator, was very slow. You will not get back and forth to your room very quickly.
Plan on eating breakfast out, if you like something more than coffee and a danish for breakfast.
Remember it's just a three star Hotel because that what you get.

After years of staying at the high end hotels, I have discovered a quality hotel in the French quarter!! I have to say when it comes to service the front desk&bellman were really first class!! In particular John Marshall&Jeremy Steverson were among my more enjoyable experiences in this establishment! If anyone ever wants to stay at the Hotel St.Marie I would highly recommend this hotel! This is truly southern hospitality at it's finest!!

This hotel was just blah. It really needs updating but looking past that, it's ok. The parking situation is the real issue. You have to pay to park in the hotel's own garage, which is absurd. That's not even the real issue. When we found the entrance to the garage we were unable to pull in because it is only wide enough for one car. There was a car coming out and we had already pulled part of the way in. We had no where to go. The valet told us to back out onto the street, which is insane as it is tight and very high volume in both regular traffic and pedestrians. After holding up traffic to attempt doing that, we pulled in. The set up makes no sense what so ever. About the only good thing I can say about the place was that the bellhop was friendly and helpful.
