“Here now and not wanting to go home!”
Reviewed 15 July 2012 via mobile

If you are familiar with New Orleans and visit here frequently or if you want to miss the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter then this is the place for you. We visit 3 to 4 times a year, so this hotel will become our place of choice. It is not the Waldorf Astoria or the "W." If that is what you are looking for, then you need to stay there. If you want a nice hotel for a reasonable price and a great location then this hotel is for you. The location of the hotel provides easy access to French Quarter and Garden District via street car stops just steps outside the hotel entrance. Beds are comfortable and staff is friendly and accommodating. Great stay in New Orleans

This well-located hotel was an ideal place to stay on our recent New Orleans trip. The room was spacious and well-appointed with a comfortable bed. The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly since we were first-time visitors. The breakfast is definitely continental, with cereal and breads, coffee and juice. There are only a few tables, but we were generally the only people there for our three mornings. As the desk clerk explained, most visitors to New Orleans do not bother with breakfast. There is a lovely Copelands restaurant on the lower level which was very helpful to newcomers for our first dinner. The food is delicious, the staff amazingly friendly, and prices within range. Although parking was $18/day, that's apparently true for most hotels here. It was easy to retrieve our car when we did need it. The location proved to be perfect, far from the noise of the French Quarter, but only a 10 minute or so streetcar ride away. The streetcar stop is practically in front of the hotel. By the way, streetcar fare for seniors is incredible (40 cents if memory serves). All in all, I would recommend this hotel very highly and would definitely stay there again.

Small, quiet hotel that is nicely appointed. Good and Free internet. Fine housekeeping staff, very convienient location with Street car stop across the street. Easy valet parking, great restaurant on the first floor that does carryout.

Skip the free breakfast and walk a block to the Trolley Car Restaurant for a fine meal.

Excellent value for price paid. My favorite place to stay in the Garden District. They have a large second floor balcony that is a great place to bring coffee in the mornings or wine and cheese in the evenings.

Room Tip: Best not to get room adjacent to the elevators.

I have found my new favorite New Orleans hotel. I stay here for business and I must say that it is one of the best values in the New Orleans area. Prices are cheaper and the rooms are larger than most in downtown New Orleans and the beds are very comfortable. Some of the rooms have whirlpool tubs. It is less than a 10 minute drive to the heart of New Orleans hotspots.

It is a small hotel (only 44 rooms I believe) but I have never had a problem finding a room at the last minute. The breakfast is not much but there is a Copelands restaurant downstairs open for lunch and dinner. The staff is helpful and friendly. The valet is exceptional and free, but you do have to pay for parking, just as every hotel in the New Orleans CBD.

However, for those of you that need a pool, this hotel doesn't have one.

The hotel needs more signs directing you into the hotel and not the restaurant underneath. The young ladies working the desk seemed bored and bothered by guests or questions, if they bothered to acknowledge you at all. Overall the hotel is nice and rooms fully equiped with fridges, microwaves and flat-screen tvs. The carpet in the rooms need to be cleaned. The restaurant below is good but a bit pricey, the little cafe, The Trolley Stop next door was good and convenient. There also is a Subway across the street. Twice we asked the desk to call for a cab and one never showed, I don't if it was the fault of the desk or the cab company. We would probably stay here again in NOLA.

Thank you so much for writing a review. We dont know how we are doing unless we hear it from you!
I am happy to report that we have FINALLY had a new sign approved by both the city and Choice Hotels International. Our previous sign fell about six months ago during a storm and as with any historic city it takes a while to get things approved! Be sure to stop by and check it out next time you are in town!
I am sorry about your experience with the desk and have discussed your review with them. Cabs in New Orleans are typically easy to get. The company we use united is only 4 blocks away, sometimes during high season though, cabs become scarce. We typically suggest during times like these, a 20 to 30 minute cushion for a cab wait.
I am glad though that you overall seemed to enjoy our hotel and i do hope you come back and see us soon!

I love the Garden District and will probably stay there every time I visit the city. The hotel is in a great area and has a St. Charles street car stop right across the street. The rooms are okay, nothing too exciting. Our carpet could have used a cleaning. The bed was okay, wish they had some other pillow choice than down and down alternative. The room was large and the tvs were new. That being said, the hospitality left a little to be desired. Also, it seems the cleaning staff enjoys listening to the clock radio while cleaning but instead of turning them off, they turn the alarms on. Check your clock and don't be surprised if the empty room next door to you has an alarm going off in the middle of the night. That is probably the most disappointing part of our stay. Every single night the room next door's clock went off at 12:15 AM. We picked this hotel because it is out of the hustle and bustle of the Quarter and we also needed a break form our 11 month old who never sleeps through the night only to be woken up by a stray alarm.
The restaurant downstairs is good though.

Room Tip: Don't get a room towards the front...very noisy and the lock on the sliding door feels flimsy fo...

Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know how we are doing! I am happy to report that we are finally entering our slow season and have begun a complete deep clean of all of our carpets.
Thanks for your feedback on the pillows! We are only allowed to use pillows dictated by Choice Hotels International for the rooms, but because of your review we did purchase a couple of foam pillows which are available upon request!
I am so sorry about the alarm clock in the room next door. I have spoken to housekeeping about this incident and know that my staff will keep careful watch not to let this happen again. If you ever stay with us again please let us know immediately if you have any problems so we may resolve them for you!
Thanks so much for staying with us!

We visited NOLA to go to the JazzFest; the junior suites accommodated three adults with no problem. Located in the Garden District there is a trolley stop right outdoors. The rooms are OK; have refrigerators and a continental breakfast of juice, coffee, tea, rolls, bagels, waffles (make your own) was included. The staff was very friendly and helpful; down to bandaids for my blistered feet!
