“Great hotel!”
Reviewed 25 June 2014 via mobile

Great visit at a pet friendly hotel! Close to Canal St. and the French Quarter. Lafayette Square is close to have a nice place to walk the dogs, and close to streetcar stops. We walked to the aquarium and streetcar to the zoo. The hotel was very nice and the staff was very helpful and friendly.

We had a new puppy (11 weeks old), who was too young to leave home alone or to leave at a kennel (at that age, he had not had all of his shots yet). Most of the pet "friendly," properties in New Orleans wanted a non-refundable $100 deposit plus either $10 or $20 per night per animal. LaQuinta charged neither. There was a mandatory $26 valet charge to park your car, but it looked like a different company owned and operated the nearby garage, and if you know anything about the parking situation in New Orleans (difficult, at best, with meters everywhere, expensive lots, and streets that banned parking on certain days for street cleaning), then you know that this is not such a bad deal, especially as you can take your car out and bring it back for no extra charge (they do tell you to call 15-20 minutes before you expect to need your car, but at our checkout, they took less time for us to make the call from the room and reach the lobby before we saw the car outside the front door waiting for us). The rooms were clean and quiet. It was a bit small, but three adults and a puppy were comfortable in a room with two double beds. Unlike other reviewers who had had A/C problems, our room had a regular room thermostat on the wall that was as responsive as the one at home. The free continental breakfast was decent enough that we elected to eat there, rather than follow our original plan to look for a restaurant outside the hotel. The location is great, as it is within walking distance of the French Quarter, Canal Street and Bourbon Street, the Hyatt casino, and the Waterfront Marketplace. Also within walking distance was the Louis Armstrong park, a quiet, green oasis in an otherwise noisy and bustling city. All things considered, we would stay there again, and have no difficulty recommending this hotel to others.

We were traveling cross country from Sacramento to New York and this hotel by far was the worst we stayed in. It had an odor that we could not figure out and carpet that was so dirty we had to leave our shoes on. The workers didn't care how rude they being to there customers, valet at one point lost our car and blamed us for giving the wrong number from the claim number. If there was one positive thing about this hotel it would be the distance to bourbon street, but that's it. I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to New Orleans, I would tell them to continue looking for another hotel or sleep in your car.

Convenient location: less than 5 min walk to street cars, Starbucks, casino, Bourbon St, & great dining spots. Valet parking, friendly staff, safe neighborhood, barely any street noise, & free breakfast. Wi-fi & tv spotty at times, but didn't come to NOLA to waste it on the internet or channel surfing. One of the best hotels in NOLA for the price.

This is the first and last time I will ever stay in this location. It began with the A/C unit not running on hi making it very hot in the room all night. Then maintenance team was rude and did not have any knowledge of there equipment. Then we changed our rooms, once again we had problems with the A/C unit not working properly and making this annoying humming. I would not recommend this hotel to any one .

Very efficient and convenient valet parking. Pleasant and welcoming front desk. A/C almost non-existent, like a baby exhaling. Maintenance staff then tried to snow us with low-tech "knowledge." Makes for a muggy summer visit to New Orleans. Wi-Fi very spotty, with outages throughout our 3-day. Bathroom waste basket had moldy drink cups in it, clearly not having been emptied in weeks.
