Hampton Inn New Orleans - St Charles Ave / Garden District
Ranked #18 of 167 Hotels in New Orleans

This was my first time staying at this location. I chose it primarily due to the convenience of the street car line and free parking. It was so nice not having to find a parking space on the busy New Orleans streets. The St. Charles street car can take you most places you want to go for a bargain of just $3.00 per day. The room was nice enough. The hot complimentary breakfast was sufficient to get you started during your day and on your way to great New Orleans food for lunch and dinner. Hampton Inn beds are always comfy. The staff was nice, just what you would expect from the great New Orleans folks. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Stay facing St. Charles, amuch better view.

RIght off the Saint Charles streetcar line, this Hampton Inn is convenient to all without being in the middle of the party 24-7. We have stayed here a few times, a few years apart, and each time has been a satisfactory and pleasant stay. Free parking, coffee and an outdoor pool are other pluses. My one complaint is that the windows of the rooms do not open. I guess they don't want to have any of the Big Easy revelers to fall out.... oh, and the drink machines were all out of water on every floor.

Hampton Inn Garden District-The services my friends & I received were great, from time of arrival until we left. Thanks Nikki & Tisha for your services at the front desk. And thanks to Ms Gwen in food services... The hotel overall was very cleaned, nice and quite.... Only problems I had 1) was with my bed, we had double beds in our room, but the one I slept on was hard as rock. I felt like I was sleeping on the box spring of the bed... I asked for an exchange of the mattress, I was told it will be taken care of by the time I get back to my room, but that did not happen ..2) the toilet was not working properly, had to called maintenence several time to fix that problem...

LOVED THE FREE PARKING! Over all a great place to stay in New Orleans.

free parking and the pretty garden district make this hotel a winner. The room was clean and I made good use of the coffee and tea available in the lobby.

Stayed two nights while visiting New Orleans. Did not want to stay downtown so did some research and found this hotel--3 miles from the French Quarter, free parking, and on the streetcar line. Staying there proved to be a great experience all the way around.

Check in was easy, no parking signs, had to drive around the corner to find the parking lot. The outside area around the hampton is very nice and comfortable. People wallking around, running around and the trolley runs down the middle of the road. The bed was comfortable, but everything else was just average.

Skip the morning breakfast, not very good. On the plus side, there is a restaurant next door that has great scene, food and drinks.

Stayed for 7-nights during Mardi Gras with my 84 year old Mother. A word of note: because they are on the Uptown parade route (19 parades in 7 days), they book up for Mardi Gras immediately after the previous years celebration. Also, they have large groups of people who book year after year, so they are filled with families with small children all the way to grandparents and great-grandparents. There were some rooms with college age guests, but definitely in the minority as far as I could see. This is a family hotel during Mardi Gras!

I admit I was initially concerned about our treatment since this was our first time and I was riding in a parade one night and needed to leave my mother alone for the day. But, the staff and fellow guests treated us as if we were long time friends and seemed to genuinely care about our enjoyment and care. After a few days, we were one of the family; and by the end of our stay we knew most of the other guests by name and were bid farewell with a "see you next year" sendoff.

From the front desk, housekeepers, breakfast ladies, and the security guard at night, the staff were fantastic. I can honestly say that they were all wonderful. Check-in and out was fast and all questions were answered immediately. Taxi was requested one morning and arrived within two minutes. Room was cleaned each day and replenished with soap, etc.; also more than enough plush towels. Breakfast was always hot and plentiful. Breakfast ladies kept the area clean and even prepared fresh biscuits for Mom one morning as a surprise! The security guard knew the guests and was very friendly, but at the same time gave off a sense of duty and made you feel safe.

If you are going to New Orleans for Mardi Gras and want to see the parades, this is definitely the hotel to pick. If you want to go into the French Quarter and drink all night, you may want to pick a hotel closer to the action. The action around this hotel is definitely Family Friendly!!

Room Tip: Book early if going during Mardi Gras
