Hampton Inn New Orleans - St Charles Ave / Garden District

Although this hotel is not brand new nor is what some would call upscale. It was very nice and very comfortable. It is located conveniently right off the street car tracks on St Charles in the garden district which for those who have not been is absolutely gorgeous and being in a comfortable southern style hotel was nice.

A wonderful place to stay while in New Orleans! Everyone is so very helpful. The breakfast are amazing! I never sleep better! Close enough to everything but just far enough to feel like you are out of the city! Very Safe! Love the key entry in the elevators to the floors...

We stayed here for a Saints Game. The location was excellent. Kind of expensive, but when you figure in the cost of parking at other locations closer to the Quarter/Superdome, not out of line. We loved the fact that the streetcar was right outside the hotel. Very convenient to get to the game. Would definitely stay here again.

My overall rating is actually closer to 3.5 than 4.0. We like this hotel and have stayed here a few times during Thanksgiving weekends. The staff is friendly and courteous, parking is very convenient.

The location works well during Thanksgiving because it's away from the madness of the Quarter, which can be overwhelming at this time of year. It's quiet and they offer complimentary cheese and tea in the afternoons.

Carpet seems to be a bit outdated and the bathrooms smelled very strongly of bleach. I can appreciate the effort to keep things clean and disinfected, but the bleach smell is almost nauseating. On the plus side, the bed is very comfortable.

We are Hilton Diamond members and were upgraded to a larger room with a view of the street. It is a great location with the streetcar stop just outside. It can take you almost anywhere you want to go or at least close to it. There is also a Fresh Market just down the street if you are staying awhile and want some food for your room. The breakfast was nice and the staff very nice too. They also had Diamond parking spaces which was a great touch! For a longer stay it is definitely nice to be outside the nightlife. Would definitely stay there again.

The Hampton Inn in the Garden District is a comfortable hotel, with a nice breakfast every morning and we had a good, quality room with soft bedding, refrigerator, microwave, hanging closet, etc. If this hotel wasn't quite so expensive, I'd give it a higher rating. For the price, I wish that I would have paid just a little more to be closer to the heart of New Orleans. To me the question isn't the quality of the hotel, since it was very nice, it's just the price for what you get. I think you can get more bang for your buck elsewhere.

It does have a fairly good location, being about 15 minutes or so from Canal Street on the streetcar (which costs $1.25 per person each way... and you need exact cash since they don't give change). Taking the streetcar is easy since there is one that stops directly in front of the hotel. If you are wanting to find dinner close to the hotel, there are a few options. About seven blocks away is the Cafe Atchafalaya which is expensive but with exceptional food. There is a wine bar close, The Delachaise, which I was not impressed with and wouldn't go back to. There is also a restaurant in the hotel next door, but we never went.

Room Tip: I asked for a room on St Charles Street to overlook the streetcar and part of the city. We were on...

Hampton Inn's are really making a come back, and this is hotel is making it true. Everything in the hotel was great, the accomodating staff, wonderful services, and the upscale feel. My family and I really enjoyed our stay here. It isn't far from the "downtown" (I'm from Chicago, so this isn't close to downtown). The trolly was just up the road. But, the hotel had all the necessary amenities one could need. Can't wait to come back!
