The holiday-inn express in custer sd was a very nice place to stay. Very clean and very friendly staff. Also it has a free breakfast with a lot of options to choose from. Located in a very good place, close to all the attractions.

This is the nicest HIE we have ever stayed in, the staff was wonderful! When we checked in for 5 nights using our Priority Club points, Ashley (thanks for the great room with a view) Kim & Bob were so friendly & helpful they made us feel like family. It got even better when we got up to our room on the 3rd floor (we didn't lug our things up 3 floors, we used a cart and the elevator, the place is not that big) and saw the beautiful view, and within 5 minutes we got to see the beaver (or what ever it is) that visits often. It was nice sitting out on the patio every night with the sound of the waterfall & the heat from the fire, one night we saw a few deer come down. If the fire is not going ask at the desk & they will light it (thanks again Kim & Bob for lighting the fire for us every night) My only complaint was........we had to leave :-(

My family stayed here 5 nights as we took our time touring the Black Hills. We got lucky with our room location, 3rd floor with our window facing the waterfall that flows down the large hill immediately behind the hotel. Needless to say, we had the window open every night letting in the cool air and the waterfall sound.
Breakfast was the best I've had at a H.I. Express. After 5 days we learned the routine was a two breakfast rotation, which was quite fine.
I made use of the internet room to print maps and truly enjoyed the atmosphere of the decorating. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We stayed here using points, so it was a REALLY good deal.
If I had to complain about anything, it would be that the coke machine on the 3rd floor never got repaired while we were there (can you tell I'm grasping at straws) and the TV/TV Remote had no way to change the input to my video cord so we couldn't watch videos of our travels (to be fair - I never asked if there was a way to get the TV to switch inputs). Yep, that's it.
The hot tub was great and the people staying there were fun to talk with. My son loved the pool. I did notice some adults bringing glass bottles into the pool area though....might need to police that better.

Stayed here 2 nights while touring Mt. Rushmore and surrounding attractions. Very nice rooms with good location. Give yourself extra time for breakfast as it is not set up very efficiently and sometime the lines are 20 min wait. Also the free WIFI is very weak and doesn't always give a signal. The AC is pretty noisy and we had to lug our stuff up 3 flights of stairs since we were far from the elevator.

My friend and I had reserved a room for 2 nights at the Best Western across the street. Upon arriving there, and discovering the room was less than satisfactory, we immediately went across the street to the Holiday Inn to reserve a room for the following night! We were VERY fortunate to get the last room available, as it was a big weekend in the Custer area with the Crazy Horse Volksmarch event going on. We paid almost double to stay at the Holiday Inn Express, but very well worth it! Extremely clean! Large rooms and a great breakfast! After this, we stayed in Holiday Inn Express for the rest of our trip back to Arkansas!

Stayed for 2 nights last month and cannot fault it.

Good large rooms, clean interior and friendly staff with a decent continental breakfast as part of the package.

Attractive rockery and waterfall to the rear garden area with a resident beaver.

Overall a nice hotel.

A truly fabulous place to stay. The hotel is clean and smells new. We stayed in the Executive Suite and our room was clean, large and quiet. Large bathroom, comfy bedding and excellent climate control with small balcony. Free, tasty continental breakfast with many options, including sausage & eggs.. This is a great place to stay and you can not beat the location. There's plenty of free parking and It's less than a 30 minute drive to pretty much all the sight-seeing spots.
