Bring some carrots for the burros. Take your time - just when you think you missed the buffalo, you'll be surrounded.

Enjoyed an evening ride along the loop. We saw the little antelope, many deer, the lovable burros and at least a herd of 36 bison. Ours and other cars came to a standstill, enjoying the fun and sight of all those bison crossing and standing in the road. Also saw a number of elk (we think). Prairie dogs were already in bed.

Must do this if you're in Custer State Park. There is a fee to get into Custer State Park, but the Wildlife Loop is worth it. We saw many buffalo, antelope, and prairie dogs. We also got out and fed the begging burros. Great time for kids.

The evening and the morning are the best times to see the wildlife. Pronghorn, wild burro, mule deer, and American Bison (buffs) are easy to find and photograph.

We drove the Wildlife Loop road twice in our week at Custer State Park and we weren't disappointed! We saw MANY buffalo, deer, pronghorn antelope and prairie dogs. We fed carrots to the burros - they were our kids' favorite animals to see.
