This is an incredible little drive to see beautiful scenery and a multitude of wildlife. I would drive this loop every single day of my life if I could.

This is a rather long drive and I suppose if it is not mid day, you would see elk and bison. During the heat of the day, nothing is really moving around except in some shady parts of the loop. If you happen to plan this, do it in the late day at the end of your visit.

We went on a Saturday morning around 8-9am. It was foggy and a cooler morning so I don’t know if that has anything to do with the animals, but we didn’t see a soul out there other than some common birds, prairie dogs, and the burros. Nonetheless, it’s still a beautiful drive, but quite disappointing considering the loop is known for its animal encounters.
