They accomodated us a day early and staying a day late. Helpful staff gave us good recomendations for touring the area. Possibly the cleanest bathroom/showers we have ever encountered on a camping trip. We highly recomend them.

This is a nice but pricey campground. Lots of shade and clean restrooms and showers. The location worked well for us also. Out of town a bit so very quiet. It cost $24 a night for a tent on a tent site, no utilities. My biggest complaint is that our camp stove, fuel and all cooking utensils were taken leaving us without any means to make meals for two days. The only person seen near our stuff was the maintenance guy. I'll never know for sure what happened but think it's worth mentioning so that others can beware. When I went to the office to inquire the guy went into hiding and the others could have cared less. There was no offer of help or even a hint of the slightest concern. So if you stay here keep a close eye on your belongings.

In response to tomahawk6, I take offense to his comments and insinuation on how his stove and other items were taken. The "maintenance guy" is a co-owner and did nothing but take the garbage from the site (empty pop bottles and a one-time used aluminum grill that was crumpled up in a bag). When one of the two guests came to the office with his concern, I checked with my husband ("maintenance guy" and co-owner), who was in the shower after working a 10 hr day (not in hiding as suggested). He indicated he only took garbage from the site, nothing else. I offered to give the guest paper plates, plastic utensils, a grill top for the firegrate and a few other items, to replace those which were missing. He acted insulted and left the office. Tomahawk6 came into the office shortly afterward and I offered to look in the dumpster with him. After going through several bags, we found the bag from their site with the empty pop bottles and used aluminum grill. None of the other items he claimed to be missing were in the dumpster. That is hardly the actions of someone without the "slightest concern" as suggested by Tomahawk6. I'm sorry for them if their items went missing, but we cannot be held responsible for what some other guest may have done with items left sitting out. We have people from all over the US and various other countries who pass through here. As with anywhere, if there is something of value left at a campsite and it goes missing, it is not the responsibility of the campground owner. We'd like to think that all campers are honest and would not steal from anyone else, but these are different days than they used to be. As to the "pricey campground" remark, had Tomahawk6 done his homework, he would have found that we are one of the more inexpensive campgrounds in the Black Hills ($23.21/night for up to 2 adults and 2 children 12 and under). The state park campgrounds are $20/night and you don't get use of the nice showerhouses as are in our campground. We get a 10 out of 10 rating for cleanliness on our showerhouses. We have many repeat customers who come back every year because we are one of the few campgrounds with trees and our campground goes back 1/4 mile so you're not parked by the highway. We've had many people say this is one of the nicest campgrounds they've ever been too. I'm sorry Tomahawk6 did not feel the same way.

We stopped by without a reservation for a tent camping spot and were warmly welcomed by the woman working at the front desk. We had driven through some other campgrounds in the area and were disappointed. Big Pine Campground has a great little tent camping section off from the RV area. So, you don't have big RVs driving past any of the tent sites. Wooded, sites, fairly close to the bathrooms. Very little road noise from the highway and a beautiful wooded area to the back of all the sites.
The bathrooms were VERY clean and they even cleaned out our fire pit after we used it. You can see the attention they pay to maintaining the grounds. We can't wait to come back!
