“A great place to stay!”

We stayed at Double D for 5 nights and were very comfortable. It was wonderful to be able to settle in to the cabin and have some family fun. The cabins are 2 miles down a gravel road, which made for a very quiet and relaxing environment. Cindy and Stoney are friendly and gracious hosts. They were very helpful with planning our sightseeing and other things to do. Stoney makes a great breakfast (ask for the apple puff!). Our 10 year old son was happy to have room to practice shooting his bow and our dog LOVED being able to run around the property rather than being cooped up in a hotel. This is a great place for people traveling with pets who are looking for personal service with a little peace and quiet.

“We enjoyed our stay at Double D B&B”

It was about 20 miles south of Custer, but we enjoyed unwinding in their cabin at the end of each day. Stoney and Cindy had a hot breakfast and good conversation waiting for us each morning. The cabin was comfortable. We liked the decor. It's the only place we've ever stayed where the kitchen sink served as the bathroom sink, too, but it worked.

These cabins are very rustic but includes all the commodities you would find in a pricey hotel. The fact that the cabins where built with local pine gives it a unique look and feel. You cannot be more relaxed sitting on the cabin porch looking at all the deer in the meadow. Cindy and Stoney are extremely friendly and knowledgeable on the local attractions. Breakfast each morning was also Delicious and provided a great start to our days.

We felt right at home with Stoney and Cindy. The accommodations were perfect for us and our horses. We explored some of the trails right from the premises for two of our days and went to Custer State park for one long ride. Breakfasts were awesome, you will not leave hungry! We'll be back!

“Cozy, quiet, clean cabin on the edge of the National Forest--a great value!”

The Double D was a perfect "home base" for us while spending a week hiking the trails in the southern Black Hills. The cabin was built by the owners, who are friendly and knowledgeable about the area and also give you lots of privacy. Their property abuts the National Forest with miles of hiking/riding trails. This is not a fussy B&B with lace and ruffles; it's rustic with basic, modern conveniences and thoughtful hosts. They make sure you have a delicious, filling breakfast every morning and are happy to answer any questions you might have. It's about 30 minutes from Mt. Rushmore & Crazy Horse monuments and Custer State Park. They just rent two cabins, so it never felt crowded. It's also incredibly affordable. A great, great deal for the money.

Liked best: Being able to step outside the door and hike the National Forest, the quiet and the hosts!
Liked least: Shower takes a bit of time to warm up; needed an extra pillow for the bed.

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2011 for a stay in August 2011

The Double D turned out to be well beyond our expectations.
The cabin was equipped with everything we needed and more.
The breakfast was big and delicious.
“Stoney” and Cindy are terrific hosts.

Can’t say enough about how good of a time we had at the Double D.
Don’t waste your money on the local hotel chains.
