The place was nice and clean but we left hiking and my husband left his wedding band of 18 years in the bathroom. I thought he put it away and come to find out he left it and it was not there when we returned. We left at 6am to pursue out trip to yellowstone and did not realize the ring was missing until the next day. I called and they said they would look and call me back. No return phone call was made. I had to call again. They sent the maids to look for it. Lesson learned we will not leave valuables behind and will leave the do not disturb sign on the door when we are gone. The coffee pot was broken and the main lobby had no coffee made. The beds were hard.

We stayed here for a few nights in the French creek cabin. It was beautiful! Great location to all our sightseeing adventures. The staff was so helpful. Was a little anxious about booking a place over the internet, sight unseen. It was everything we could have wanted. We are from PA, so if we ever get the chance to see south Dakota again, this will be our place. Everything was so clean and any issues we had, they took care of it within hours. Just wish we could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: Just remember that this place has cabins and rooms at the front lodge. Make sure you look carefully...

We stopped here because it looked like a nice place. It was a week before the Memorial Day weekend so we still go the regular rate for our room. We asked for a pet friendly room. To my amazement we were put in room 119 which is one side of a duplex. It was HUGE. There were two queen beds, table and chairs and a couch. TV and drawers of course. There was a dog fee of $20 which we don't mind. Lots of parking and a nice park area out front and back.
The room was clean and very convienently located to everything. Would have like to at least spend a week there. They also have awesome looking cabins on the hill.
So convienent to all of the local activities.

Had a short but satisfactory stay here, but our chat with the lady at the reception was so helpful. She is so full of knowledge of the area and has a passion for the history. She helped take this from being an average stay to a very good stay.

we had a log Cabin with a Queen and 2 Twins. very clean! ASK FOR THE LOG CABINS, THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS THE LODGE. Go to the website and see which sleeping arrangement is best suited for you. we loved our stay and just outside of town, but still very walkable to everything. pool is open, but call front desk first to unlock it before you hike down there to find it locked. They provided a swing set for the kids too! Breakfast was typical cereal, muffins coffee ect. pleasant staff and would stay again.

The room was great! Very knotty piney. Very clean. The breakfast in the morning was basic but fine. The cabins looked nice but we were in the lodge. Short walk to downtown. No pool due to a haol strom :(

Room Tip: Rooms in the back of the lodge facing the cabins seemed quieter

We stayed 7days in Custer at the Rock Crest Lodge. The first 3 nights we spent in the 2 bed, 2 bath cabin with our friends. The last 4 nights we moved to individual cabins. My wife and I were in 214. Awesome cabin with great porch and great views. The heat worked well and the beds were really comfortable. Michelle, who worked the desk, was most helpful. She gave us info on where to find good restaurants in town and where to buy supplies that we needed for our stay. Staying in Custer is the most centrally located town near all of the attractions that you want to see like Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Needles Highway, Iron Mountain Road, and Custer State Park. I plan on staying there again next year.
