Our family went on a road trip this summer. Part of our trip included visiting the Black Hills. We decided we wanted room to spread out and booked a cabin. I am so glad that we did. The owners were very friendly and helpful with recommendations on where to eat and alternative activities to do. The property was well maintained and the cabin had more than enough room for the 5 of us. We stayed in cabin #10. Best of all the children had room to run around and burn off some energy on the grounds. We also enjoyed the deer who visited us each morning and evening.

In addition the cabin was close enough to everything we planned to do in the Black Hills including Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and Custer State Park.

We arrived and was expected, and treated very well. The weather was great, the cabins were clean and comfortable, and the stay was terrific. We stayed 5 days and were out going through the Custer State Park a lot, which was right nearby.I really think the ROOST is a great place to stay, and we are looking forward to going back next year.

My husband and I first found The Roost via the Internet three years ago. The pictures and description seemed to be just what we were looking for but the price was so reasonable, it made us a bit leary.
When we got there, we were pleasantly surprised! The cabins far exceeded our expectations. They have little kitchenettes, queen sized beds and a full bath. They were more than clean and wonderfully furnished and fully equiped. The scenic views are 100% gorgeous. For each cabin there is a barbecue grill, picnic table and adarondack chairs. We enjoyed our stay so much three years ago, we went again this June. Frank & Suzanne (the owners and Hosts) had updated the outside of the cabins with all new siding (gorgeous) and the inside was even better than the last time we were there. It was like coming home! We are going again in September and will never stay anywhere else during our trips to the Black Hills. If you're looking for the camping experience without actually camping, this is the place to go! You just wont regret it!
