Be prepared to be awakened around 6 a.m. by the birds. There is a huge tree next to the house that hosts all kinds of birds with exotic cries. Robert noticed I was up early, and brought me coffee while I sat outside and waited for the rest of my family to stir. After that, it's a simple breakfast of fruit, eggs, toast and homemade marmelade. We spent one day at Playa Venao, about 25 km away, but my favorite beach is Playa Distiladeros. The turnoff is just outside town on the way to Limon. For dinner,Isabelle suggested a fonda called Isla Iguana (and yes, it's right next to the gas station)but the seafood was excellent and the prices very reasonable. Beware of venomous black and yellow sea snakes at nearby Playa de Toros! It's a good walking beach, but very wild and untamed.
