At the last minute, my partner and I decided not to travel to Bocas Del Toro and found this hotel on trip advisor.
We love the location- a relatively secluded unspoiled piece of paradise. The staff was friendly and helpful, the food could be better however the free breakfast was great. There is a wonderful restaurant next to hotel at El Sitio. The infinity pool was beautiful. Also, this is a surfers paradise. The hotel will lend a free surfboard if you ask. We paid $180 a night but felt it was little over priced because the grounds should have been better maintained and it is 4 hours from Panama City. It's clean, safe, wonderful experience to get away and they are so hospitable!

Funny story: we drove 5 hours then couldn't even find the place since the only sign said "Playa Venao Restaurant Bar" Even pulling up to the hotel there is not a sign with a name. I had high hopes once we reached check in, but my partner was not impressed with the "reception" in general, and to be frank we were skeptical from the start since he is a national and was initially asked to pay in FULL in advance by, get this, wire transfer! Seemed odd, and when challenged they allowed him to reserve without payment nevertheless it did not work out since they managed to turn us off to their overpriced "boutique" hotel in a matter of minutes. We ended up staying at El Sitio for a night (don't ask!), then Pedasi B&B which is perfect since Playa Venao (these overpriced hotels are on a public beach with access to anyone with a vehicle) is a short drive and Isla Iguana is another fun day trip.

I'm somewhat reluctant to share this exceptional boutique hotel with the rest of the world because I don't want it to be discovered by the masses and thus ruined. Playa Venao beach is on the cusp of development so if you wish to visit an almost deserted, pristine surfing beach, you'll need to do so in the next couple of years before it becomes a tourism mecca like Farallon beach.

This pricey hotel is exceptional in every way, from the beach views to the beautiful infinity pool to the open-air lobby and restaurant. The included breakfast was excellent, as were the 2 dinners we ate there, although the menu choices were somewhat limited. Bar drinks were expensive. There are fridges in the rooms, so you may want to bring your own drinks.

The location of the hotel is very remote and there is very little to do in the area except swim, surf and walk the beach. There are a handful of other small hotels nearby if you want to eat elsewhere. The hotel offers tours through a company in Pedasi which are very pricey in my opinion. We went on a half day tour to Iguana Island to snorkel for $40 each. Lots of beautiful fish and mediocre coral.

The cabina we stayed in was very nice although somewhat sparse. Perhaps because it's a new property there were a number of finishing touches missing in the room - no room safe, no towel rack, no comfortable chairs or table etc. The cabin had a lovely front deck where we could sit and watch the surf. Definitely a great place to stay for 2 or 3 nights.

Room tip: Pay a little extra to get a cabin with an ocean view.

As I live in the area, I always stop by around lunch time for a Burger or Ceviche... The food and friendly service is always excellent. The views of the beach and surf zone will compliment your meal. They have an extensive menu, and a bar to serve you all kinds of drinks. Enjoy!!

Room tip: Take the upper floors... The views are fantastic!
