My wife and I had a pleasure of staying at Hotel Dachstein for several days in August 2012. The location of this hotel is central in Filzmoos, otherwise a small Austrian village. This hotel is a small family-run facility with app 20 rooms. The room quality is good (see our photos), the bathroom was clean and spatious. We ha a big terrace overlooking a small Alpine stream running through Filzmoos. We had our baby with us and i seems he enjoyed this hotel as well.

Breakfast at this hotel was nice and service very pleasant. We had dinner there once. The food was innovative and nice and it came with only 10 EUR supplement per head! This was really good value for money. The only downside was that we got kicked out of the hotel parking because of a local food festival. We would come back.

We booked the Dachstein in March as wanted to stay in a lovely hotel as we were getting married at the Unterhof Alm. The hotel was fantastic, it suited the whole party, the bride and groom and guests from age 5 to 65 were very well looked after.

The staff are a delight, we were made to feel very welcome and special and they did lots of special touches to make our stay truly memorable.

The whole wedding party (29 of us) left by horse and carriage from the hotel and we were waved off by all the staff. We returned there later in the evening for drinks in the hotel bar. Our room had been made up beautifully.

The food is excellent and the presentation beautiful, catering for the children was also no problem and they enjoyed really good home made meals. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful.

Filzmoos is a lovely little resort, perfect for a wedding as it is small and compact, the ski area is not extensive but there are plenty of other slopes nearby, it was great for a mixed group. The hotel is central.

A wonderful week, with great Austrian hospitality.

We stayed at Hotel Dachstein for a week in March and tremendously enjoyed our stay. We felt thoroughly pampered by the Knechtl family who were so friendly and helpful. The hotel was welcoming, our bedroom spotless and comfortable.
The dinners were quite delicious, imaginatively prepared by Wolfgang and served expertly by Marija and her team. The breakfast buffet had really excellent variety and, in addition, you could request freshly cooked fried eggs or omelettes.
The hotel location is quite central, tucked up a little side street but providing easy access to the main street and the ski lifts. Our bedroom was very quiet at night.
Filzmoos is a very pretty little town, ideal for families.
The only thing we would have liked is to have no smoking in the hotel bar - other areas of the hotel were smoke-free and we hope that Austria will follow the lead of other European countries and bring in no smoking in public areas.

We went to Filzmoos for hot-air ballooning in winter and this hotel was in a perfect location. Family run and all members are very friendly and always accommodating. Breakfast is standard but their freshly baked breads were excellent! Especially loved the croissants and round crispy-on-the-outside-soft-on-the-inside buns.
Con: no kettle provided. They were kind enough to send us hot water flasks, but the water had very strong coffee smell and taste. I think they were not used to guests asking for hot water, hence quite unprepared.

We loved our stay in Hotel Dachstain. It offered many services, you would only expect of 5 star hotel. Spacious, ultra clean, newly furnished rooms with LCD tv with 99 channels. Food was fantastic, especially 7-course dinners. Hotel is family owned and all members of the family are working in the hotel all the time. At our leave manager of the hotel himself carried our luggage to our car. And all that for quite affordable prize. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Our stay there has been just wonderful. We stayed there for a week in winter. The rooms are spacious enough, the bathroom clean and well -equipped. The view was very nice, too: the window faced the centre of the village and not the mountains, but FIlzmoos is such a nice town that we didn't really mind. It was quiet, which was fairly important for me.
The food was the best I've ever eaten in Austria (and I've been to Austria at least 10 times before). Breakfast buffet is a standard one, but the dinners are quite big - 4 or 5 courses - with especially delicious entrees and desserts.
The only problem for me was the language - I don't speak German very well. Our waiter, a very nice guy, had problems with English (or just refused to speak it). Fortunately, I grabbed enough of the language to order food from the menu.
The hotel is family-owned and supervised by them all the time. They are very nice people.
There's one thing I don't understand about this hotel. It's called a "Sporthotel", but has no swimming pool or a fitness room. Which is a pity.
