This is the best hotel in Flizmoos by far. I have stayed here many times over the years including Christmas and new year. The staff are brilliant and it is just the right place in the village to be near the slopes but far enough from the hustle of tne village. Great place to stay.

My family and I have just returned from a fantastic week in Flizmoos staying at the Unterhof. It is the second time this year that my wife and children had stayed there (Grandad was the lucky fourth member of the party on that occasion) and both times the stay has been excellent.

The hotel is very well located just a short walk (300m or so) down the hill to the first of two main ski runs and the nursery slope.

The service is excellent with extremely friendly staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome and to make your stay a pleasant one.

We ate in the hotel restaurant every evening and the food was outstanding. The hotel are very proud of using local produce and the dishes were excellent without exception. You choose what you would like for dinner when having breakfast each morning and this probably helps ensure you get the freshest and tastiest ingredients. Our boys were also well looked after with separate kids meals cooked for them - with the same care and attention that goes to the adult meals.

Our room was clean and comfortable and was able to sleep all four of us together in the same room which made life easy.

One highlight - especially for our children - at 4pm every day there is cake and hot chocolate served in the hotel lounge. Most guests seemed to take up the opportunity and this was a nice friendly occasion where we had several chances to chat to other families staying at the hotel. And after the cake it was off to the clean indoor pool for a spot of swimming before dinner!

I can sum up this hotel in one word superb.First class food, and first class staff really make the unterhof the hotel to visit in Filzmoos. Tibor and Alexandra in the restaurant cannot do enough to help you and the reception staff are first class. The cleaners go the extra mile to keep the rooms spotless, and to add a daily extra surprise.

Room Tip: All rooms are very good.

This was our sixth family ski holiday (husband, son aged 18, daughter aged 15) but our first visit to Austria. When we went to board the Flybe flight we were slightly shocked to see it was a 78 seat propellor plane, we all boarded and then sat for over an hour whilst they tried to fit all the luggage on. They eventually gave up and loaded two snowboard bags into the overhead lockers! We did eventually make it to Salzburg and had a transfer of about an hour and twenty minutes to Filzmoos and were met off the coach by Jan the lovely Inghams rep who took us into our hotel. The receptionist (Michaela) was so lovely and welcoming and quickly checked us in and told us that the restaurant was still open for our evening meal. There appears to be newer rooms in the hotel but we had two rooms on the first floor. Although they could probably do with an upgrade they were clean and warm and the cleaners did a great job and always liked to pass the time of day if they saw us. One even made us a towel animal every day and a small chocolate on each bed, which was a really nice touch. Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of hot and cold options. The evening meal consisted of a salad buffet, followed by a served soup, main course and dessert. You were given the main course menu at breakfast and asked to chose from the three choices which we felt was a good idea. The meals were typical Austrian and although my son was or keen on some we never went hungry. Matte did an excellent job in the restaurant and always had a smile on his face.
The hotel had a lovely swimming pool and spa (although we didn't tend to use the spa facilities due to it appearing to be no swim suits). There was also a small gym but it only had a treadmill and cross trainer. The ski storage in the basement was good, plenty of room and chairs to sit on and heated boot racks. The hotel wasn't about a 4 minute walk down to the two man lift.
Filzmoos is a lovely quiet little town, there were hardly any queues (apart form when ski school was starting) and the slopes were uncrowded and well groomed. We had near perfect conditions although the skiers (I opted not to ski this year) said the afternoons were not so good as we had lovely sunny conditions. We ate mainly in the Olympic restaurant near the two man lift, again lovely friendly staff and fairly reasonable prices. I also used to have my daily hot chocolate in Happy Filzmoos next door!

We went on the horse drawn sleigh ride one afternoon which takes you up into the mountains to a little restaurant where you can get a drink and something to eat and go sledging. We then travelled back down under the stars.

We all thoroughly enjoyed this holiday and would like to visit Filzmoos again, a beautiful place with lovely people.

It was my first time staying at the Unterhof but a returning trip for my boyfriend as he and his family have visited the hotel on several occasions in his youth. I'm happy to say that the excellent standards he'd remembered had been maintained and I was delighted to make my first visit to a traditional and friendly hotel with fantastic service from all the staff. We had not booked a room in the modernised wing but were still very pleased with our clean and spacious room overlooking the end of the Grossburg slopes. Having never tried Austrian food, I was intrigued to find out what would be in store for us in the restaurant and was over-whelmed with what was served. Breakfast was equally good, and although a buffet, it was still a treat before a day on the slopes. Afternoon cake with a choice of soup or pasta was a lovely touch for a late afternoon snack. I would be happy to return to the Unterhof and recommend it as a great hotel with exceptionally high standards.

Room Tip: Request a room on the second floor over-looking the slopes.
