Booked a holiday for the winter snow, but no snow! Despite this had one of the best holidays ever in this small friendly hotel set in an idyllic lakeside setting. The host (and owner) made sure that we were given a great welcome, the food was some of the best we have enjoyed and the quality of service from all the staff was friendly, attentive and personal. Great spot for a wide choice of walks but also on a regular bus route for trips further afield.

Room Tip: Side view of lake came as standard and was fine.

Just returned from a christmas holiday at the Seerose, in Fuschl, Austria.
What a first class hotel! The owners made everyone feel welcome, they were very polite and attentive, as were the rest of the staff, the waitresses in the restaurant were constantly smiling, were very polite and worked hard, and an extra special touch, they all wore traditional austrian dresses, which was very nice to see.
There was not one area in the hotel that was not spotlessly clean. All areas were warm and comfortable, we went expecting the hotel to be on the cool side, like other hotels we have stayed in, which have been a little to cool, the seerose was completely the opposite, i only wish i had taken less warmer clothes to wear for the evening. This is not a complaint however, it was lovely to feel so warm and comfortable all the time.
Rooms were clean, well maintained and again spotless.
The hotel is set on the lakeside, with wonderful views from the restaurant, and if you are lucky enough to get a room with a lakeside view, like we did, even better.
As we were there for christmas, the management gave all the guests christmas gifts, a champagne reception, before a gala dinner for christmas eve, which did not dissapoint. They made sure that nobody was left out.
The hotel restaurant, lounge, rooms etc was decorated very tastefully and to a high standard, as too were the christmas decorations, they were traditional and classy without been over the top.
On the day we were leaving the owner and his wife, wished everyone a Happy New Year a safe journey home and thanked everybody for staying with them, then waved us all off, a very nice touch.
I don't think there is one negative comment i could say about this hotel, it is without doubt one of the best we have stayed in, and has completely spoiled us. My only regret is, i wish i could have stayed longer.
I would certainly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to be spoiled and stay in first class accomodation, within a beautiful lakeside setting.

My husband and I spent a week over Christmas at Seerose Hotel and it was superb. From the time we arrived, late at night after being diverted to Linz because of fog, we received such a warm welcome, and immediately taken into the restaurant for a light meal despite the restaurant being by then closed.

It was such a good experience staying at this hotel that it is hard to know where to start. Firstly, we were so impressed by the high standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel. Everywhere was pristine, and all the staff from the delightful and caring owners, to the most wonderful Sarah in the restaurant, were dedicated and committed to ensure guests were well looked after.

The food was superb, and the gala dinner on Christmas Eve was delightful. We were made to feel part of the family, with presents from the tree, and a talented pianist played classical and standards for our enjoyment at dinner.

We had a lake view bedroom with balcony which was spacious with a spotless bathroom, robes, and replacement towels each day. Also towels for swimming pool. We had several swims in the excellent and perfectly located pool overlooking the lake.

One day I lost a diamond earring down the plug hole of the basin in our bathroom. We reported it to reception and within minutes they had sent up an employee who was able to unscrew the pipe and retrieve my earring for me. They just couldn't do enough for you.

We had a wonderful walk around the lake - 11k round trip, stopping off at the Schloss half way for a truly impressive hot chocolate and strudel out on the terrace where they literally put you to bed in an open cabin, with fur blanket, and views of the lake.

We went by bus (outside hotel door) on Christmas Eve to Salzburg (40 mins) and were enthralled by the Christmas market in the square. What a wonderful atmosphere, watching all the horse drawn carriages, guns going off from the castle, and bought some beautiful tree decorations for home. Coffee and excellent cakes in the Mozart café before coming "home" to our hotel for dinner.

Another day we took the bus in the opposite direction to Bad Ischl, again a lovely town, with beautiful walks by the river, and pretty scenery along the journey. Buses were promptly on time to the minute, and very clean.

All the walks in Lake Fuschl have excellent yellow signposting, giving length of walk and time it will take.

The Austrians are friendly and welcoming people, and we couldn't have had a more delightful holiday. Well, maybe, if it had snowed, which we had hoped for, but settled instead for a week of bright sunshine and almost spring like weather.

We would recommend this hotel any time of year.

Thank you to the owners for making our holiday so special. We wish them well for the future.

Room Tip: A lake view room is spectacular

Fuschl is a summer resort that means that in the winter you have the place to yourself. Despite this, the Seerose (water lily) was busy while we were there. No real surprise as it is very well equipped, with pleasant public rooms, a swimming pool and sauna. The food is generous, well cooked* and presented and the people are friendly. The only minor comment was that, even with the radiator turned off, we had to crack open a window in our room to avoid sweltering overnight.
We had a lake view room that allowed us to see it in different moods of light, dark, mist and, one night, storm.
* especially the fish from the local fisheries

Room Tip: Go for the lake view - it was always a delight to look out

We stayed here for Christmas and then decided to return for 1 night in September, to see the lovely area at a different time of year. It is a real pleasure staying here. On both occasions we opted for room with a balcony and lake view and really made the most of it. Fuschl is a beautiful town and the Hotel Seerose a lovely family run hotel. A blissful setting.

Room Tip: Worth paying for a room with balcony and lake view

We stayed here for the first week of our Austrian holiday and loved every minute. The staff were very welcoming and made you feel part of the family. Food was extremely good and varied every day. Rooms were spotless, bright and airy. As we booked with Inghams, we had unlimited wine for dinner and a packed lunch which helped keep holiday costs down. The hotel is ideally situated on the lake and the 150 bus stops right outside which means you can get to Salzburg one way and Bad Ischl the other way very easily. The weather was really good our week so air conditioning would have been useful. However it was quiet enough that you could keep the balcony door open all night. We were really sad to say goodbye at the end of the week!
