After passing Kaprun's busy pedestrian zone, we were pleased to find that our hotel was in a quiet residential neighborhood. This meant we could leave our windows open with no crowd noise. The double we had was a very generous size. I think it was the largest, brightest room of our whole trip, and this would be very important to me if I were to stay more than one night in Kaprun. It was also a very reasonable price, and our host locked my husband's bicycle up in her cellar at no extra charge so it wouldn't be a tempting target for thieves.
The breakfast, also included in the price, was excellent. While it was in many ways the traditional German/Austrian breakfast, it went further than they usually do: it had more selection, and everything we tried was very good. One member of our party couldn't stop raving about the yogurt, which he said was some of the best he'd had.
The only two disadvantages we found to this hotel were the lack of a restaurant/bar and its distance from the pretty downtown. We didn't try it, but it was probably a good fifteen-minute walk away. Still, there were several restaurants within easy walking distance. We ate at the Dorfstadel restaurant, just around the corner.
