“The Spa - pool area (didn't stay in the hotel)”
Reviewed 25 December 2013

We were on a ski vacation in the area (a big selection of ski slopes, btw, the glacier in Kaprun, Zell am See, Schütdorf, etc all in the 15 min drive radius) and visited the spa on our last day. We stayed for 3 hours and spent the whole time jumping from one pool to the other.
When we first arrived, we were a bit disappointed by the few pools, but the sight was misleading. There are 2 inside pools with whirlpool a section that feels like you're in a cave and a current that makes you feel weightless. Outside there are 3 pools - one is "olympic", one has a waterfall feature and the other has saltwater AND music you can only hear underwater. All are complete with breathtaking mountain views. There is a seperate area for kids and we also found a jacuzzi on the 1st floor. It was a fun and relaxing afternoon. I only wish we could go at night (open till midnight)- I can only imagine the view.

To be fair I would like to start off with mentioning that the hotel itself was amazing: the design of the rooms, the facilities, the restaurant and the whole ambiance was breathtaking.
Being pregnant it was very nice to notice that I could use every swimming pool in the spa, as the temperature of them did not exceed 36 degrees Celsius.
For those who like to ski, the ski slopes are as well nicely maintained in the area and easily accessible from the hotel.
Unfortunately when we arrived home after our stay, we noticed that some money was missing from my husband's valet. The amount was not horrible, around 40 euros in Hungarian currency but we were shocked as noone else has entered our room but the housekeeper, who by the way was hungarian jugding from her name: Timea.
We wrote to the hotel on this matter right away, and disappointedly got an answer that we should have kept our belongings in a deposit box. In my opinion this is not an answer that a five star hotel should suggest, or if so they should mention it at the check in that the husekeeper might steal something so we should place our staff in the deposit box.
We did not expect anything from the hotel in return to our complain but a sincere apology, however what we got was that they questionned our word and our honesty in a very rude manner.
After the email that we got from the hotel unfortunately all of the good memories were ruined and as we think about the hotel we have a very bad taste in our mouth....

We stayed in in Tauern Spa & Hotel in August 2013 (high-Season) during family vacation. Unlike the majority of hotels in Kaprun, this hotel is of modern style. It is bigger than any other hotel in this area and contains the largest SPA in Kaprun. The hotel rooms, facilities and restaurant are all clean and comfortable. There is no air condition in the hotel, like (I think) all hotels in Kaprun. However, there is an electrically-operated screen that can be set to prevent insects from entering the room while the window is open to allow fresh air. I don’t think that this facility is available in other hotels in this area.
Our booking included half-board. The breakfast was great with wide-selection options. The dinner was also good with the menu covering the requirement of different guests. Free minibar was also included. The minibar contained 3 large bottles of still and sparking water, and 4 small bottles of fruit juice. There were no other soft drinks (Cola) which could have been a plus.
We faced to minor issues that I would not expect to face from a hotel of this size: 1) there was a bad smell coming from the toilet in one room. I informed the housekeeping, but after 4 days, nothing has been done to resolve this issue. 2) I wanted to take a shower at night and I discovered that there is no soup in the bathroom. There is a large liquid-shower (and shampoo) bottle mounted to the wall. This was empty. I can’t not imagine that the housekeeping will not check this bottle until a guest complains about it. I called and was told that the housekeeping closes at 21:00. The gentle lady at the reception desk was very helpful and brought me a small shower-gel bottle. I still consider these 2 incidents to be odd and should not be used to judge the general ambiance of the hotel.
I found all the hotel staff very friendly and supportive. I just think that the hotel was suffering understaffing and staffs are unable to cope with the workload during the high-season periods.
Due to the location of the hotel, which is not in center Kaprun, It will be more convenient if you have a car. There are enough free parking lots near the hotel.

We travelled to Austria with our eight month old baby and this was a perfect getaway for us. We were spoilt with excellent service, a wide variety of foods (breakfast and a five course dinner were included in the cost of our rooms) and beautiful views. Our little one not only enjoyed the kinderspa: she also had a wonderful time at the child care room, playing with a variety of toys.
The staff were friendly, and very helpful. I had a left a CD at the hotel and they were willing to post it to my home address at no cost. I would definitely recommend this hotel and return myself.
Tip: give yourself plenty of time to get to the airport. Expect traffic jams when entering Salzburg.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at this spa hotel. we stayed in a deluxe room with spectacular views - but then again all the rooms have spectacular views as the hotel is located in the middle of a field, which is a good thing. The spa and pool areas are amazing and it is quite a treat to visit their rooftop pool and look towards the mountains. Service is friendly and honest and i can highly recommend this place. The only slight negative thing is their seating arrangements in the breakfast area. For some strange reason you have to sit at the same table that you had the night before. So if you didn't visit the restaurant the night before, then no one knows where you should sit!!! seems rather silly and i am sure in time they will sort this out.In my opinion this is the place to stay while in Kaprun

Room Tip: Any room is good

Great location and service. If you like sauna and pools place is great. The price includes full board (breckast and diner) so leave some room for the excellent food.
One warning for travelers from USA, the price is per person, not per room. So the bil can get high very quickly.
Very clean and modern hotel, can't wait to return in the winter.
