Just returned from a fabulous week skiing in mayrhofen felt compelled to write a review. Mayrhofen itself is an excellent skiing destination great skiing good value quick transfers etc. Booked neuhaus through crystal ski got a great deal and was delighted with the quality and luxury. We had a large room with balcony, beds were super comfy. Food was outstanding. We were half board and ate out some nights however the food in the neuhaus was better than what we had out. The pool and Spa area was very welcome after long day on the slopes. Don't hesitate in booking this hotel its a real find. We will definitely return

We stayed here for a week at the end of January. We have stayed at many similar hotels in Austria, and almost universally this type of establishment offers great accomodation. This hotel is undoubtedly up there amongst the best, that we have in. Having booked independently and driven from Munich, we were delighted by the free carparking. Our room was in the main hotel - and it was beautifully appointed, comfortable and spacious. The food included on our half board option was good and there was plenty of it. ( We often declined one of the four courses on offer for dinner. ) All the staff were friendly and efficient, and the hotel's amenities - especially the pool area - excellent. It was particularly pleasing, as British guests, to find that he main hotel bar does not allow smoking.

The only quibble with our entire stay was due to size of the hotel and the number of guests.. As I have we found he staff, including those in the dining room, universally excellent. However, I found the main dining room, despite it's grandness, all a bit noisy and impersonal - almost like a school dinner hall. ( But I certainly wouldn't let that put anybody off the place.)

We booked the hotel through Crystal and stayed there with another couple during the first week of February 2013. We made sure we requested rooms in the main hotel based on previous reports and we were not disappointed. Our room was room 220 and it was very spacious with a balcony.
The bed was huge (Emperor size) and very comfortable. Sheets were lovely and duvet and pillows soft down. The Two separate duvets on the huge bed were a good idea. were Plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space and seating area. The bathroom was a decent size with twin sinks and a bath and overhead shower. Plenty of hot water all the time and decent towels. The room was a little warm but once we found the radiator control valve behind one of the panels we managed to control the temperature.
Bit flat screen TV and mini bar.
We were concerned that our room was right opposite a lift but the lift was so quiet we never heard a thing. In fact our room was very quiet no noise from above or either side or from outside.
The hotel is very large overy 400 rooms if you include all the annexes. We were disappointed with the dining experience. The breakfasts were extremely good with a wide selection to choose from both hot and cold. The evening meals were very hit and miss (in fact more miss than hit)
We enjoy and appreciate good food and were disappointed on most evenings. The format was very repetitive each night a cold starter was put in front of you before your bottom had hit the chair this was usually followed by a very mediocre soup and then a self service salad. (Essentially three starter courses-all average-we would have preferred one decent starter)
The main courses were distinctly average. There were usually three options to choose from or you could opt to view a vegetarian menu which was very uninspiring. The main courses were ok to middling but nothing more and on one night inedible. Then followed a choice of desserts all of which were ok and there was a self service ice cream bar and cheese table.
The dining room was enormous and very brightly lit so not much atmosphere. There are smaller dining rooms that are used when the hotel is full and these serve the same food and have a little more atmosphere so it might be worth asking to be seated in one of these areas at the time of bookiing. There is an a la carte restaurant in the hotel.
The main bar area of the hotel was again lacking in atmosphere. The same band (a couple who could easily have come from the Eurovision Song contest in the 70s) played everynight and did nothing to liven up the place. The bar staff were polite but that's as far as it goes. We visited the bars in neighbouring hotels most evening and found lively music and guests dancing and singing and plenty of atmosphere.
I have probably made this review sound quite negative. The rooms were excellent, we were disappointed with the food but we are real foodies. Most people were happily tucking in and gratefuly for the quantities. We would have preferred less but of a higher quality.
I nearly forgot we also visited the spa area. There are two spa areas. One is free to all guests and the saunas etc are all clothed. You can upgrade by paying extra to have access to a further spa areas with more saunas and treatment rooms but I believe these are without clothes! The main spa area was very clean. Good changing room and lockers. Nice pool and lots of loungers to recline on. The jacuzzi was always cold though. People were happy to use it but it could have been a lot warmer. The sauna was a decent size and again new and clean.
The location of the hotel is also good. It's a little walk to the main lift station (10-15mins up hill)
but the hotel is close to the main train and bus station and you can hop on the ski bus to the main lift or alternative lifts in the area. It was a very busy week when we were there and the main Penkenbahn lift just cannot cope with crowds and some days the queue was an hour long just to get on and then a slow ride 15mins up the mountain. On days like this I highly recommend taking the ski bus to the Ahornbahn lift (only a small ski area but good for a first warm up) We found it odd that this tiny ski area had the largest lift in Austria serving it! Another excellent option is to take the bus to Hobergerbahn lift and this takes you up to the main ski area and avoids the queues at Penken. Another advantage of being near the station is that you can use the free train to Zell am Ziller. There are two trains an hour and the journey is 15 mins and the skiing there is fantastic. From the bus station next to the train station you can also catch the buses to go to the Hintertux Glacier (only worth doing if visibility is good and it's not too cold)

Room Tip: Ask for room in main hotel not in Neuhaus/Landhaus Annexe or St Joseph Annex We had a room 220 whic...

Stayed for a week in Jan 2013 and we were very pleased that we picked this Hotel. It is very luxurious if you stay in the actual Hotel and not the annexes. We had a huge room which had a double bed with 2 duvets, a sofa bed and a single bed. There was also a desk and coffee table, mini-bar and flat screen TV which actually had 4 english channels including BBC Entertainment as well as the usual news stuff. There was a huge bathroom with a full shower and bath and twin sinks. There was always plenty of hot water and the room was always hot as well, so we had to leave the balcony door open or it was too hot to sleep.

The breakfast was a buffet of cereals, hams, cheeses, pastries etc. The only hot items were eggs to order or hard boiled eggs, no bacon! The dinner was 5 course and was generally very good with some theme buffets on several evenings. Tap water was available in a carafe at no cost. The house wine at €12 for a carafe was good.

Despite other comments that the sauna was sans clothing, this is not true except for the premium pay sauna. The sauna, jacuzzi and pool are deemed family areas and swim attire has to be worn. This was a great area, but the jacuzzi was cold.

The bar was a not too fantastic as it was broken up into several areas, some which were used for meals by those in the annexes. The entertainment was the same every night which got boring.

The ski storage was good with heated boot racks. The main transport hub at the rail station was only 2 minutes walk away. From there you could get buses to all lifts and other resorts such as Zell am Ziller. You could also use the train to Zell and Kaltenbach. The ski bus meets the train at Zell and there is a 6 minute walk to the Gondolas at Kaltenbach. All transport is free with lift pass and ski equipment.

The staff were very friendly and helped us find our rooms and answered all our queries. The only downside was the Internet access, which was expensive and did not work when there was heavy demand, which was most of the time.

Would definitely go again as it so so nice and close to the transport system.

Room Tip: Stay in proper hotel for better rooms. You can hear the bar music a little in some first floor room...

Have just returned from a weeks skiing/snowboarding holiday, staying at the Neuhaus Landhaus which is the 3 star annexe of the main hotel Alpendomizil Neuhaus. I was a little worried about having a room in the annexe due to previous reviews but I needn't have been! The room was huge, spotless, with a lovely big comfy bed, balcony and alpine views. There was no smell coming from the small farm adjacent into the room, however some days you could smell it outside, but only just. The only downside to the room was that it did need modernising a little as the decor was 'alpine retro' and a kettle would have been handy for a cuppa after a cold day on the slopes. We did not have a bath in our bathroom but our friends who stayed in the room next door did so if a bath is important to you make sure a room with one is requested.
The main hotel was great, very picturesque with friendly staff. The spa area with pool, jacuzzi and sauna was amazing and looked right out over the snowy gardens.
The food... Absolutely fantastic. Either eating in the hotel or out in town we could not fault it. We were half board and were very glad we chose this option. Large buffet breakfast and six course dinner, spoilt for choice!
Another great aspect of this hotel is that it is at the beginning of the Main Street, so just a little further away from the penken gondola meaning you avoid being kept awake by the après ski bars when you are not feeling up to the schnapps!!
All in all, this hotel is a superb choice for your ski holiday and we would definitely stay here again.

We stayed for 4 nights and really enjoyed it. I stayed here in 2009 and knew my wife would enjoy it too. A little disappointed that soap dispensers have now been fitted In bathrooms.
Chef cooks eggs and omelettes at breakfast freshly, wide range of meats, cheese, breads and cereals.Evening meal can be a bit hit and miss but generally good.
Internet access was 2 euros a day or 5 euros for 3 days. Why is it always free in less expensive hotels?

Room Tip: Choose a mini suite if you can.

Always slightly worrying to select a inclusive package as you never know what the meals are going to be like - and then to be stuck with them for the whole week. No need to fear at the neuhaus where there was an exceptionally good breakfast buffet: cereal, bread rolls cold meats, cheese and freshly cooked omelettes etc. Dinner always offered a range of starters such as curried poached egg and soup, the extensive salad buffet and three choices (plus veggie option) of main which were always pretty interesting. As if that wasn't enough there was a choice of sweet and cheese course. Service was friendly and very prompt.
Hotel facilities include a pool, gym sauna etc - if you are into that sort of thing!
I was in the landhaus annexe which offered more basic accommodation but this was fine.
Would certainly book again

Room Tip: Main hotel more comfy than annexe. Avoid rooms overlooking the adjacent hotel farm as the animal noi...
