We had originally wanted to stay in the Kramerwirt, but no rooms were available at the time of our holiday booking, as they have one of the best reputations and reviews for catering for people who need a Gluten Free diet in Mayrhofen. However, we still chose to dine there for a midday meal on Sunday 10th June 2018. We couldn’t fault the meal that we had at all – wurst, potatoes, and sauerkraut. However, we were somewhat surprised, considering the reviews it has had, that the menu did not contain any of the allergen codings – “A” being the Austrian code for foods containing gluten. My wife picked a meal that in theory shouldn’t contain gluten (and thankfully it didn’t) but asked the waitress on duty at the time for advice and rather unhelpfully was just told that “it’s as it says on the card”.
Others have given the Kramerwirt good reviews in terms of Gluten Free dining, and it might be better for guests staying at the hotel. However, for a casual diner we felt things could be better - especially by including the allergen coding on the menu. As mentioned though, the meal was very nice and we couldn’t fault that at all.
