“Lovley Hotel Beautiful Location”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

Stayed here in March on ski deal with Crystal. Could not fault the hotel. We had a room overlooking the lake which was beautiful better scenery you could not get. Food excellent and service was very good all the restaurant and reception staff we very happy and helpful. Just a note to say the mini bus transfer to the lift station was excellent. When I booked I was a bit worried but super efficient door to door.
Would go back tomorrow !! Crystal very efficient.

Room Tip: Lake view a must !!

We stayed here late May as part of a tour with GRJ. We had a room overlooking the lake and the mountains. Fascinating to watch the mountains change each day from sunny with melting snow to very white one morning as there had been snow in the night. also watching the boats sail across the twinkling water on the lake.
We were so pleased to find that our bathroom had a shower cubicle and not a shower in the bath.
The service we found excellent .. the food too. Everything you could want for breakfast ... fruit juices, cereals, fruit, yogurts, several types of bread and bread rolls, a toaster provided too, jams, honey, marmalade, sweet rolls, croissants. A large selection of cold meats and cheeses, eggs (soft or hard boiled or scrambled) and as much coffee as you wanted or a selection of teas. Dinner was mostly a choice of 4 courses plus coffee. Service was good, the waiters helpful and very friendly, and the food exceptional.
The hotel has a terrace where you can pop back if staying around and have lunch or even a bowl of home made soup with a basket of bread for under €4.
The hotel is handy for the station, just a short walk where you can easily get to places like Kitzbuhel, Saltzberg etc. The location is central for a walk to either end of the lake or to walk all around the lake. On the nights of the light show on the lake we could either walk down to it or watch it from our room.
All staff were friendly .. the receptionists and barman were very friendly and helpful. There was live music in the upstairs bar in the evenings. A lovely place to sit and unwind after dinner.
There is also a Spa and swimming pool.
All in all we found this an ideal hotel and would like to return one day.

Room Tip: Overlooking the lake is best. Some have balconies.

Here you will have a romantic stay, nice view, nice weather nice staff historical Hotel building, this is the place to go

The issue is that, hotel renovate the furniture badly, it's look very cheap & not suitable with the historical building. Also there's no AC. room service is very bad here ( they don't clean the rooms properly ).

If you're 2 couples only, I might recommend this hotel to you depending on which month you go (between April to June) or (Sep to Oct) due to no AC.

Stayed for a week - room facing lake, large enough for 2 adults 1 child.

Half board - breakfast is typical continental - variety of breads and meats. Dinner was five courses - every 2nd day was a buffet style with four options - they also provided healthy children meals which also changed each day. Only gripe is that veal appeared as option most days.

Service was good, there are a lot of waiter staff some appeared to be training - but they did a good job

Weather wasn't great some days and this is where the indoor swimming pool and the kinder club are great to keep children occupied - the ladies that run the kinder club where very good

We also used the grand spa facility which is also very good containing treatments, saunas and relaxation room

The imperial bar area is very nice and has a friendly bar tender - they also provide excellent music every night, usually a band - but there were never more than 6 people in the bar at anytime over the week which was surprising and led to a poor atmosphere - sitting in an empty bar listening to a band isn't much fun!

The clientele whilst we were there was a mixture of families and couples with I'd say 90% from the gulf region rest European

Overall good hotel with kid friendly facilities

So friendly staff , we have the family room and the grand suit with half board , it was great 2 weeks i spend there and feel like home , a lot of Arab guests in the summer time , love the area its so calm and quite and the people are so so friendly . i'd rather to reach it from Salzburg airport than the Munich airport.

The location of the hotel is superb

My husband and I stayed here in late May with Thomson, and I have nothing but praise for the hotel and the staff working there. Everyone was very gracious and friendly, and nothing was a bother to them. We asked to change our room on the 2nd morning as we didnt sleep well owing to the close proximity of the railway line, and we were shown two other rooms further from the line, both of which were lovely. The food was amazing as was the service, but I must say vegetarians didnt have a great choice of main courses, but we ate very well. Breakfast was extensive and buffet style so there was a huge selection of food on offer. The situation right on the lake in the centre of resort was 2nd to none, and I would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone visiting.
We used the indoor pool a lot as the weather was very poor when we went, and that offered a hot tub and sauna as well as the pool, so really great. We felt the resort had little to keep people interested for more than a couple of days, unless you were walkers or hikers. I was walking with a stick as post surgery so perhaps I saw things differently from healthy visitors??? Although Austria is beautiful I dont think I would go to Zell am Zee again as there wasnt enough to see and do for over 70s like us. Dont miss the light shows on the lake 2 or 3 times a week as they were brilliant

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the rail line, and if possible a lake view

I stayed there as part of a ski tour group so we didn't have the best choice of rooms. Having said that, my room was satisfactory in every manner and I found no reason to complain.
With that statement out of the way, this is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. From the dining room to the spa to the lounge area this reminds you of the amenities of another era. The gracious help was always prepared to extend themselves.
I felt pampered and privileged to stay at this hotel and would not hesitate to stay here again.
