“Warm and friendly, great location”
Reviewed 8 April 2013

I have just returned from a weeks skiing holiday to Zell em See staying at the Neue Post hotel which is located in the middle of town and 200m from the gondala and bus station.

We were a family of 2 adults and 2 children and we travelled with another couple. Our rooms were located next to each other as we had requested and we had connecting rooms with the children which was perfect. The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms luxurious with bathrobes for all. Worth paying extra for Superior rooms.

Beautiful spa/gym and swimming pool and as a non-skier this was great for me to use during the day whilst everyone was on the slopes. Even though it was not fully open the hotel staff (Samir) would kindly oblige and turn on the steam room or sauna as and when I requested it. Towels for the spa/swimming pool are available and it is spottlessly clean.

We had half board and the breakfasts were wonderful. Dinner was soup, salad bar and main course (this was the only thing that let the hotel down - the main course was typical Austrian fare which unfortunately was not always to our liking) - this was not too much of a problem as there was a lovely Turkish restaurant next to the hotel.

There isn't much for children/teenagers to do in the hotel apart from swimming and there was a table football, perhaps the hotel could think about installing a pool table or something.

Anita and her staff do a wonderful job to make everyone feel at ease and welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. I definately didn't want to leave and would definately go back again.

This hotel is in the middle of the town, close to the ski bus station and within easy walking distance of the CityExpress ski lift. Lovely restaurants and good bars just a 2 min walk away. Had a slight problem with the water in the bathroom but as soon as reported they fixed it within minutes. Customer service at the hotel was fantastic, apartment room was clean and good size - would definitely recommend.

We stayed in the Apartments which are essentially large hotel rooms with a kitchen area and a bedroom or two plus 2 bathrooms. May not be quite as modern as hotel but are clean and functional. Allowed use of sauna ( good) and pool ( adequate). Meals were 30 euro per peson per day for breakfast and dinner. Fare is typical Austrian buffet but was fine.

A great hotel for all seasons - we have been going back to this hotel for several years for both winter and summer holidays. It is a lovely hotel with an excellent location, right in the city centre and only 5 minutes away from the skilift (City Express) and the lake. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the common areas are very welcoming (our only regret is that smoking is allowed in the lobby/bar) and the spa area is just excellent. Our children love the covered pool in the garden (though the pathway through the garden is a little slippery) and the adults truly enjoy the various saunas. All the staff are very helpful, especially the reception ladies. A great breakfast gives you enough energy to ski all day long. Upon your return from the slopes you are be treated to a cup of tea/coffee and some cake - a great idea for tired skiers!Every time we go there particular attention is always paid to the family member who must follow a gluten free diet. We can only recommend this hotel to anyone and will be glad to return there next year again.

Room Tip: Rooms in the old building, especially on the pool side are quiter and sunnier.

Great hotel, we've just stayed at the Neue Post in Zell am see. We booked last minute through / Neilsons and upon arrival we were met by the rep James and made a speedy transfer to resort. Upon arrival Annita ( manageress ) greeted us and gave us all the information we needed, ie, wellness centre, ski garage , restaurant etc. We found our room to be comfortable, clean and warm, lots of storage space, handy hooks, that are great to hang ski gear..towelling robes and toiletries. tea and coffee making facilities in the room and huge power shower, heated towel rails and floor. We had a TV in our room which had a few English channels. We booked half board and found the food to be good for hotel food, large salad bar , soups, variety of breads and a choice of evening meal from a selection of three.. I need a gluten free diet and this was no problem, I had lots of variety, vegetarian was also catered for well.We ordered wine or soft drinks most evening and didn't find them too exspensive. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful.Breakfast , again was typical hotel food, lots of breads, cereal, fruit, a variety of meats and cheeses, boiled eggs, scrabbled eggs and sausage or bacon..lots of choice.Afternoon tea and cakes are also served each day, which is nice to come back to after a busy day on the slopes The location of the hotel is good, inThe centre of Zell am see, it was a five minute walk to the gondola. There is also a handy shop next door to the hotel for bottled water and snacks.Lots of bars and shops. the Town is nice and probably a good resort if there are any non skiers in your party.
The wellness centre was lovely, although we only used it once, but lots of facilities and clean and warm, children are allowed to use it from 4-6 pm, opening hours 4-9pm .all in all, a good hotel, value for money!
The only downside is Autria don't seem to have a non smoking policy and the bar area did get a bit smokey, however the Neue Post was no different to any of the bars or restaurants. We are bit spoilt now in England..

After reading the reviews of this hotel I and my party were a little apprehensive - especially regarding the quality of the hotel's food and service. However, I can honestly say the negative reviews are NOT justified. The hotel was an excellent choice - well placed for the slopes and chairs to the mountain; excellent value for money; clean and well maintained; very helpful and friendly staff (both reception and the service staff in the restaurant); and, specifically given a number of reviews were negative about this aspect) perfectly enjoyable, plentiful and edible food for both the breakfast and the evening meals (and two of our party are vegetarian).

Overall, I would recommend the Neue Post and would happily return.
