“A wonderful stay over Christmas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 December 2013

This delightful hotel made our stay there over the Christmas week 2013 a real joy!
Every single member of the staff worked so hard to make our experience over the holiday period special and the welcoming hospitality shown to us by the hotel owner Eva and her colleagues made us feel very at home.
The hotel is impeccably maintained and attractively furnished including a super private sauna area available for booking. However that which deserves special mention must be the cuisine.
As long time visitors to Austria we are very familiar with hotel restaurants and the food which you can expect to find on offer but this far exceeded our expectations and it is no exaggeration to say possibly the finest we have ever enjoyed.
Based on our week at Christmas we would thoroughly recommend the Seehof in Zell am See.

Room Tip: Be aware that the small rooms are exactly that.

We spent 1 night in this beautiful hotel on the shore of lake Zell. Our only regret was that we could not stay longer as it was the best hotel we stayed in during our 2.5 weeks holiday in Germany and Austria. The room was a good size with a balcony looking out across the lake. The views were amazing. There is a lovely lakeside promenade and it is possible to take boat trips on the lake. I loved the kettle in the room which allowed a lovely warm cuppa on arrival. The breakfast was the very best we had during our holidays with an enormous selection of food. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. There is a railway track just outside the hotel but this did not lesson our experience. The noise from the passing trains was not very noticeable. The owners have taken great care in decorating the hotel with beautiful pieces of furniture on each floor. This has created a cosy and homely atmosphere that certainly makes us want to return to this top star hotel.

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking the lake. Don't let the adjacent railway line deter you as you will n...

We have just returned from a week long stay in this fabulous hotel. On the Inghams booking form we requested a quiet room (having read about the trains) and on arrival were shown to a beautiful one bedroomed apartment in the garden.
To be honest the trains wouldn't have bothered us anyway.
The hotel is very well kept, the public areas are very nicely furnished and comfortable with free wifi in the reception area.
The food was excellent, plentiful and nicely presented with a 4 courses and a salad buffet every night, breakfast had everything you could ask for.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, Siobhan our waitress for the week looked after us very well.
I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone and am already saving up to come back.

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday staying in Hotel Seehof, it was a most enjoyable experience, the staff went out of their way to be both friendly and helpful. The hotel was extremely comfortable and the food varied and of a very high quality, I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Just back from a stay in this truly fantasic, small and friendly hotel.

Our room was very clean an comfortable, with views over the lake. With the windows closed, we did not find the train noise an issue. A fan was thoughtfully provided in our room, which was an added bonus in the 30 degree heat!

Breakfast was buffet style. There was plenty of choice from fruit, yoghurt and cerals to the meats, cheeses, bread and eggs. Plenty of fruit juices, teas and coffee. Dinner was always four courses - a starter, soup, main dinner and dessert. The main course needed to be chosen at breakfast, which was not an issue for us. The quality of food was always really good.
The added bonus for us, was eating our meals outside on the small terrace at the front of the hotel over looking the lake. This facility alone sets this hotel apart from its competitors in the town.

The location was fantasic. Just a few minutes walk to the train station, bus station and the City Express cable car. Also to the lake and the centre of town.

It was lovely to stay in a hotel where the staff genuinely seemed to take pride in what they do. Always very helpful from providing informaton on transport links and timetables and talking us through the Austrian cusine.

I would highly recommend this hotel.

I have recently stayed in here with my wife (very tempted not to come home !) it's the most friendly hotel I have stayed in with fantastic staff , wonderful food , and terrific loch views . As for the trains , that's not an issue , if you stay in a city with roaring traffic and you go there and hear a couple of trains ....
I want to go back and do the dishes ! ;-)

Room Tip: rooms at the front overlook the railway .

We stayed here in July 2013 and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. You might not get all the facilities as in some of the larger hotels but the size is part of its charm and is reflected in the price. We were thrilled to find we were given a room overlooking the lake (we paid extra for a balcony and it was so worth it), having read previous reviews about the train line we were prepared and this did not bother us in the slightest, with the door closed the trains could not be heard, it was very warm when we were there so it did mean with the door open the trains were loud - but hey ho we had great weather so can't complain.
The staff are a credit to the hotel, so friendly and professional, the service provided at breakfast and dinner was excellent.
The food was fine, 4 courses every night plus salad bar, you get to choose your main course in the morning, although vegetarians may struggle as often the veggie option was fish. At breakfast there was plenty of choice of cereals, breads, cake, frankfurters, eggs and selection of cold meats etc.
A lovely cosy clean hotel that was a great base for exploring Zell am See and the surrounding area.

Room Tip: rooms over looking the lake have super views not good though if you would be upset by the trains No...
