The staff were very helpful. The room was large with a big balcony and spacious bathroom. The shower was excellent. Breakfast was very good and generous. Would I stay again? Yes.

The balcony overlooks a courtyard and people were talking louldy on their balconies opposite at 4am in the morning! I recommend you close your windows! The hotel was quite expensive, but then we expected Zell am See at the height of the summer season to be expensive.

Our group, 13 teachers from Finland, stayed three nights in this hotel and we all were so pleased with it. The location is perfect, right in the center of the lovely town. The rooms were nice and clean and staff was very friendly. We had half board and enjoyed a three course meny either for lunch or dinner and they were certainly worth more than 10 euros. If I ever get to Zell am See again, I'll stay in this hotel and highly recommend it to my friends

Everything was just perfect! We stayed there during a week in March 2012. We had a tiny room in the guest house (the building where the restaurant is) without balcony. The room was small but lovely: warm, clean, with new furniture.

Breakfast was basic but very tasty. Maybe two times we had dinner at the hotel and it was also good and i would specially admitt it homely atmosphere and kind service. But I wouldn't recommend take HB for the whole staying because you can also go to a restaurant or a bar at the ground floor of the building or anywhere else and at the same price take whatever you want. And also you can pay for every dinner at the hotel separately each day you want to take it right in the restaurant or at the reception.

Staff was very friendly. Although reception doesn't work 24/7 we had no problems with check-in at 11 p.m. We had quite pleasant correspondence with hotel manager during discussion of various details before our visit (we booked the hotel directly from their website).

Location is perfect in a few steps to the center and 5 minute walk from the main lift and the bus stop.

It will be pleasure to stay at this hotel once more and I will definitely recommend it to my friends!

We stayed here for a week in June and would describe it as a solid mid-range hotel. The rooms are newly renovated. The bathrooms (at least for the double rooms) are huge and luxurious (we loved it) though the actual bedrooms could be a little more spacious. Overall pretty good value for money and breakfast spread is very good with eggs as well.

Each of the double rooms had a balcony that faced onto the mountains which was lovely....and also needed in the heat of summer. Gruener Baum does not have air-conditioning which makes it a little unpleasant when it hits 32 degrees during the day, however you will find that most Zell am See hotels do not have air-conditioning and are built for cooler temperatures.

Location cannot be beaten, it is right in the very centre however although free parking is provided, it is quite tight to get in and out of there. If you're not a confident driver, consider staying at accommodation a few mins walk from the centre instead.

It is a family run hotel and whilst the reception staff are not unfriendly, they are fairly neutral and if anything, a little cold. I wouldn't really say warm and welcoming. Some of our friends asked for directions to a well-known restaurant and they pretended they didn't know where it was - hardly convincing if you have lived in this small town for your whole life!

Stayed in the hotel for 5 days , lovely clean rooms a very friendly family rum hotel in a perfect location.
We choose the half board option which
I would never normally do. Not sure
What we would get for 3 courses for 10 euros
But the food was great
Can't recommend this hotel highly enough

My husband and I and our 2 small children traveled to Zell am See from the US for a family wedding. Such a beautiful part of the world! It was our first time in Austria and other family members recommended Hotel Gruener Baum. We stayed for one week in a 4 person apartment. It was an ideal size for us and we liked that there were 2 separate rooms. The refrigerator and stove came in handy for preparing meals for the kids. There is ample room in the small foyer for skis, etc. The 4 person apt would certainly sleep 4 adults, but it might feel a bit cramped. If I was going again with all adults, I would get the bigger apartment, but it was just right for 2 adults and 2 children. The location was perfect, right in the pedestrian district walking distance to shops, restaurants, bars, and City Express. The only downside to the apartment vs. the traditional hotel room at the Gruener is that there is no maid service. I don't think daily service would be needed, but the
room could have used some freshening up by mid week. We booked through booking.com and got a great rate. I would definitely stay at the Gruener Baum again if we're lucky enough to get back to Zell am See in the future.
