Just finishing our fourth trip to the Tirolerhof in Zell am See. Terrific hotel: very friendly staff, quality rooms, good leisure facilities, great food. It really is hard to fault. Each year we hire bikes (stored in car park) and cycle for miles through Alps. Already planning our next stay - this time during the winter season.

We have just returned from a lovely holiday at the tirolerhof. I have used trip advisor to check reviews of hotels although I have never written a review myself, but felt I must share our experience. It is the most welcoming hotel we have stayed in from the reception and lounge areas to the bedrooms, dining room and leisure facilities(you must go to the top floor and at least check out the new spa - its amazing). There are comfy chairs and cosy corners to sit EVERYWHERE inside and out! We were allocated a table in the dining room which was ours for the whole of our stay to use for breakfast and evening meal. The food was first class. We looked forward to each and every meal and were never disappointed. The staff were lovely, particularly Michaela who looked after us.The only negative is the charge of 4.5euros for a bottle of water. I had 2 glasses of wine for the same amount of money. On principal we would normally not pay this but as my husband does not drink alcohol we had no option. To pay over £30 in a week for water is ridiculous. I could go on and on about the way the rooms were cleaned, the bathrobes and towels for use in the indoor pool and the wonderful relaxation room but you really need to go yourselves as although i was very impressed by the reports I read being there in person surpasses all your expectations!

Room tip: Ask for thired floor overlooking lake&mountains

We have been here three times now as a family, for skiing and, because we love it so much, for a summer holiday also.
What can one say... Its fantastic, elegant, welcoming, comfortable and just everything you want a hotel to be. The food is great and the service is perfect.
Part of its appeal is that its all the above without being pretentious.
If you're going to Zell, and can afford this why stay anywhere else!
I hope there's room for us next time we try to book!

We have been visiting the Tirolerhof for 29 years now. Usually in the summer, sometimes in the winter although we do not ski. We have seen many changes over the years but the standard of hospitality has never changed. The food is of exceptional standard with an amazing variety, Breakfast has to be seen to be believed. A full range of cereals, yoghurts, fresh and dried fruits, cold meat, cheeses, eggs (however you want them,) bacon sauages plus a wonderful celection of breads, coffee and a choice of teas. A typical evening meal would start with a self service salad bar followed by a choice of hors d'oeuvre followed by a choice of soup, at least three main courses to choose from plus a choice of dessert and/or cheese. There is always a vegetarian option at all stages of the meal. The restaurant staff are always prepared to arrange variations if required. The area of Zell am See is wonderful with mountain walks well marked and the beautiful area around the lake to relax. Now you know why we have to have our Austrian fix every year!

We have just returned from a fantastic 1 week stay at the Tirolerhof and neither of us can recommend it highly enough.

The Staff: As has been stated in other reviews, this hotel is a family run enterprise by the Posch family. We can honestly say that every single member of staff that we dealt with was extremely courteous, smartly dressed and highly professional with a genuine desire to help out. They spoke fantastic English, very useful for those times when our very basic attempts at German faltered (which was often!). The staff, particularly those in the bar and dining room, were very good at pre empting your requirements, yet they were never, ever obtrusive and very much respected your personal space and privacy at all times. We would like to give a particular mention to both Michaela and Daniel and say a big thank you to both of you for making our stay as good as it was.

The Room: Upon our arrival we discovered that we had been upgraded to a Junior Suite from a Deluxe Room, so this was a very pleasant surprise. Our room was absolutely spotless from the point we arrived and throughout the stay. Everything was presented beautifully, from the way that the robes were folded to the presentation of toiletries in the bathroom. Each night a member of staff would come in and ‘turn down’ the beds, leave us a copy of the following day’s weather forecast and cool the room down slightly if required. However we never ever saw them as this was always done whilst we were at dinner, how they knew was beyond us as we went at different times, but they did and it just added to the service. The room was comfortable, spacious with ours having two balconies. There was a minibar (although we did not use it, it appeared that the prices were unusually the same as the bar prices), a free and easy to use safe, plenty of storage space and ample seating with a sofa and two chairs. The bathroom was superb with a sunken bath and a separate and large shower cubicle; there was also a supply of complimentary toiletries and additional towels for your use if you decided to use the spa facilities of the hotel. If we had one very minor criticism, it is that our room (and we presume others were the same) did not have air conditioning, although this wasn’t an issue the majority of the time, it could become stuffy during a hot and humid night.

The Food: Probably one of the most contentious issues that can make or break many holidays, well as with everything else, you need not fear, the food was superb. The buffet style breakfast was monumental, allowing you to choose from virtually anything that you desired including: Continental, English, Cereal, Fruit, Breads etc, my description really does not do it justice. We have read in previous reviews of reports of flies hanging around the buffet at breakfast times, we can safely say that whilst we were there we did not experience anything of the sort.

The evening meal was something else. It always consisted of a minimum of four courses and to be honest, particularly when the starters arrive, you do initially question if it will fill you up, trust me, it does! You choose that evening’s meal at breakfast that morning and the quality of what you get is some of the nicest that we have ever experienced in any hotel or restaurant. We were initially a little daunted by some of the choices (steak tartare, mushrooms in aspic etc), but I would say just give it a go as you will most certainly not be disappointed and it will open you up to a whole world of new, delicious and well cooked foods. All of the restaurant staff are superb and as described previously, great at anticipating your needs, yet never intrusive. They are highly professional and extremely friendly, guiding you every step of the way if you are unsure. Oh, and do watch out for the buffet desert night, this can be seriously damaging to any waste line!

Hotel Facilities: Unfortunately we did not get the opportunity to make use of the multitude of Spa treatments on offer, but would most certainly do when we return, however we did use the pool and Jacuzzi and it was great. The times we used it, it was quiet and very relaxing, the whole area is very clean and perfectly designed for you to lie back, relax and generally chill out. We would not say that this is a hotel particularly geared toward children as it is more an adult Spa hotel with the facilities to match, maybe others would disagree but there are certainly no play areas/splash pools etc. The whole hotel is kept in top condition throughout and not once did we see any dirt/dust or a bulb that was not working. If you require internet access, there is a wired terminal in the lobby plus free wireless in the lobby (which we could also get on the first floor), I also believe that you can also use wired access within your own room, but we never needed to explore this option, all of this was free as well.

Whilst writing this, we are acutely aware that it sounds like a member of the hotel writing it, however we can assure you that it isn’t, we are just a couple who had a wonderfully relaxing time in Zell and this was in no small part down to the Hotel Triolerhof and it’s staff. There is a reason that this hotel is No.1 for hotels in Zell on TA, so if you are thinking of going, do not hesitate, you really will not be disappointed.

On a final note, during our stay it was my wife's birthday and I would like to say a personal thank you to both the Hotel and the Crystal Summer Reps for helping me to arrange the wonderful surprises and make the whole day unforgettable, thank you all.

So, would we go back? Without hesitation and we both agreed that we wouldn’t consider any other hotel when in that area.

Hopefully you have found this (lengthy, our apologies!) review useful, we could not get everything in there, so if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us and we would be more than happy to help out.

Room tip: Ask for a suite on the third floor. They are not that much more expensive than a standard room.
