“Lovely hotel for a family holiday”
Reviewed 18 July 2013

We stayed here for two weeks half board as part of a crystal summer package. The hotel is very traditional but clean and comfortable. The meals were good for a half board package and my special dietary requirements were provided for with no problem which was a real bonus. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly with anything we needed and made a particular fuss of my six year old son. My mother was staying in a room at the front which was quite noisy but we were at the back and heard nothing. It would have been nice to have a communal area in the hotel but the one available table was always reserved for the owners. Overall a good value hotel in a central location.

Room Tip: Get a room at the back if possible as less noise.

My family and I had dinner at the hotel's restaurant and we were very disappointed. The service was ok but the food was really not good. The only dish that was ok was bratwurst and soup. Other dishes were not tasty at all. We ordered turkey with cream sauce and braised beef with mushroom sauce. Both dishes lacked taste or creaminess. It was crowded but the reason could be just because it is located on a main street of Zell am See. We will not go back there for sure.

Just at one corner of the central square. A really old fashioned hotel with lots of character. Staff were friendly and the room was a good size and clean. Excellent breakfast. Rooms at the front of the hotel might be a bit noisy.

Stayed here in march, end of ski season. Lovely hotel, very traditional. Great little cosy bar in the hotel. Rooms average with all the basics.could not hear the church bell as others have said. But we where on the other side of the hotel 3rd floor, very quiet.Hotel in the centre,Ski lift about 10 mins away, depending if can get across the busy road. Or you can use the subway, if you don't mind carrying skis up and down stairs. Food was good the first two nights, then got a bit bland. Pasta served with grated Parmesan was one dish. Where's the sauce? Some soups where quite nice. Some bland. Breakfast was continental with scrambled eggs/ boiled eggs. If you ask, you can get bacon at no extra cost.service by the girls at breakfast was great as well as evening time.there is also free wifi, just ask at reception for password. I would rate this hotel a 3 star. Oh yes if your using sauna/ steam room ,Remember it's Austrian style. ( towel only). Enjoy!

I stayed at the Lebzelter, half-board, for a week's skiing holiday. It's in a perfect position, right on the pedestrianised town square, just off the main road and near the library, railway station and bus terminus. It is surrounded by bars, shops and restaurants and the ski gondola is only 200m up a gentle hill. The building oozes Austrian history and charm and the staff are pleasant and efficient, if not overly friendly. My room was small and quiet with no real view, but very clean and functional. The shower worked well, but the TV had only CNN in English. I turned the radiator off all week, as the room was too hot with it on. The hotel bars, heated ski vault and restaurant can't be faulted. The food was good, but not exceptional. Breakfast consisted of a wide selection of breads, cereals, yoghurts, fruits, sliced meats, juices and cheeses. Boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, sausages and toast were the only hot options. Dinner choices had to be ticked on the menu in the morning and always started with a tiny hors d'oevre, such as parma ham or caviar, followed by soup. There were three choices of main course, one of which was vegetarian and two definitely not: usually meat and two veg in a very traditional style. Small cakes and fancies and/or ice cream served as the desert, and there were cheeses, breads, crackers and sliced meats as savories. One would never go hungry, but nor would one be tempted to over-indulge. The house wines were good and drinks in general were very reasonably priced. The whole place fitted the bill.

We have skiied in Austria for a number of years and this year settled on zell am see. A superb resort but we had little time to enjoy it. Perhaps another summer trip is called for. For our March booking the lebzelter offered great promise and after a short transfer from Salzburg we were loooking forward to great hospitality. A very traditional hotel with lots of charm with average rooms and airplane style bathrooms- you definitely wouldn't swing a cat! The hosts in traditional garb were efficient to the point of alarming and definitely showed no charm. Meals were average with a small monotonous breakfast buffet and evening salad. A good wine selection from £20 euros upwards and an evening recommendation made. Tables small and tightly squeezed in. The cellar bar was ambient but small and smoky. Due to the slushy weather and winds we had to ski from Kaprun for a number of days- recommend the Tauern national park and the glazier.

Room Tip: Remember that an austrian twin is in fact a double with two mattresses as we discovered to our peril...

I read reviews on this hotel after I had booked to stay there in March. There seem to be some negative comments such as problems with the rooms and the rudeness of staff. Well I would like provide you with my comments. The room I had was clean and spacious with small but adequate bathroom, I also had a balcony overlooking the town. I found the staff of the hotel to be very helpful. One particular example was the helpfulness of one of the waitresses in my hour of need. I had developed a blister during my week of skiing tried the chemist all they could give me was corn plasters which were next to useless . On arriving back to my hotel, the waitress in question could see I was in pain and provided me with her own supply blister plasters. Without her help my holiday would have been ruined, with plaster in place I was able to ski again. On hotel location and the helpfuness of staff I would recomend this hotel,
