It's our first time heading to the snow with our little daughter (16 months) and we and another family (2 adults + 4yo+2yo) booked directly with Hotel Staff Wein. From our first contact they have been amazing to deal with, quick to answer and very obliging with alterations and requests. On our arrival we were picked up from the train station, shown the important locations around the town and brought to the hotel. The welcome was lovely and we arrived at afternoon tea time so the food was most welcome. The room we booked was a two bed with living area which was huge. It easily accommodated the 7 of us and was a pleasure to be in. The kids loved the secure balcony for running up and down in the fresh air. The hotel was spotless and the food was amazing at every meal. The selection and presentation was 5 star. The staff and other guests were all family orientated and it felt great being there. It's a top class hotel, with a top class service and should we go back to Zell am See it's exactly where we'll be staying. It is located only a couple of hundred metres from the City Express lift and has a bus stop out side the property to go to the others. You couldn't ask for better. On our departure early on Sat morning they arranged an early breakfast (full selection) and a taxi to the train. Excellent. It also has an pool, spa and children's playroom.

This is our fourth visit to Zell, but our first to this hotel. We have had such an amazing time and now plan to return every year to Stadt Wien. The hotel is amazingly welcoming and friendly. The decor and furnishings are tasteful, comfortable and very modern. The food is plentiful and delicious. We are vegetarian and were served imaginative, delicious food every evening. We have two children and there was always a food option for them. We have stayed in other hotels of this category in Zell and have found this hotel far superior on every level. We can´t wait to return!

Just returned from a week at the Stadt Wien with my other half and neither of us can fault the week at all! Our third stay in Zell Am See but the first at this hotel and we definitely plan on returning here. The hotel is in a great location for both skiing and town, you can ski back to just above the hotel and there is also a bus stop almost at the front door. The centre of Zell Am See is a few mins stroll downhill so you get the best of both worlds. The hotel is newly refurbished and this has been done to a very high standard, the whole hotel was spotless and felt warm and homely all round - the rooms, lounges and eating areas. The food was absolutely fantastic - plentiful and in our opinion top quality restaurant standard! We had dinner at the hotel every night and most nights ended up staying at the hotel bar afterwards as the drink prices were very reasonable and the staff all very attentive and friendly. Thanks for great week - we hope to return again soon, would be nice to see Zell Am See in the summer as well as the winter!

Spacious room, described as a Junior Suite. En suite bathroom with separate toilet. No noise pollution from adjoining rooms or corridors. Spa and outdoor heated pool good. Family friendly. Excellent food including afternoon tea which was like a meal! The hotel staff were efficient and very pleasant and friendly. I would be happy to stay here again.

Just back from a week in this hotel. We are a family of four (2 kids aged 2&4) who travelled with friends (a couple with a one year old). We stayed in one of the suites which was perfect as we had a living room and balcony as well as a bathroom and separate bedroom for each family. Due to a last minute injury just 3 adults were skiing and there was usually 2 adults minding the kids so we were hanging around the hotel a lot. The playroom got lots of use. There's a ball pond with slide plus boxes of bricks/duplo lego, teddies, books in German and a few cars etc. More than enough to keep our 3 amused for the week. Breakfast is great, as is dinner and the free 'snack' at 3pm which could also serve as a late lunch. Dinner (served from 6.30pm) varied but there's a salad bar every night and lots of choice in general. Breakfast on the day of leaving started at 6.30am to accommodate those leaving early which was great. The location is good, short walk to the lift and town centre, which has a pretty pedestrianised area. There's a bus every half hour to another lift area (stops right at hotel) where kid's ski schools are based. Snow in Zell area wasn't great (11-18th March) especially in the afternoons but the glacier is very good and you can get a bus there easily. We went to Kaprun with the kids one day on the bus, there's a great playground there for small kids with a year-round tobogganing track which was great fun. There's a restaurant on site too so we passed a good few hours there.
The spa area is nice and the masseuse Karin was absolutely brilliant. The service in general is great, everyone is very accommodating and helpful and whenever felt the kids were bothering anyone when they were running around the foyer or restaurant. It's very dog friendly too. On a slight negative, the kids pool is barely worth going to if your kids are older, it was too tiny for our 4 year old. Like a big bath! The big pool is almost all outside and not shallow so only for kids that can swim. The playground outside was too icy to use but would have been nice in summer.
Overall we loved this hotel and can't recommend Claus and his team more. We got great advice at reception, free transfers to and from the train station and all the staff, from the cleaners to the bar/restaurant staff were just lovely. We felt it was good value and would highly recommend it.
