Plenty to do in Zell am See - and this is a hoppin' place to base yourself. This hotel would be great for families, especially, and was hosting a lot of British visitors when I was there. Overall: Attractive & charming decor, casual chic atmosphere, friendly & helpful staff, clean & well-maintained. Smoker's lounge inside the hotel was odorless and pleasant. Although vegetarians will find plenty of things to eat, as there is always a large selection of salads and fresh fruit, it it more meat oriented than I prefer, and alternative protein choices were rather limited. Spring-water dispensers were beautiful and refreshing. I really appreciated the juice and ice cream served at dinner. Complimentary shuttle by taxi to/from the train was wonderful. Petting zoo is awesome. (I would have rated it excellent, if the food was a bit better and more to my taste, but most people will find it perfectly fine.)

Stayed for 4 nights with 2 young children (their first trip abroad) and it was wonderful. We were upgraded upon arrival and could not have wanted more from our amazing room (except perhaps a kettle, but I think it's absence is usual in Austria). We struggled with tired hungry children most evenings(our kids are not used to eating later than about 5pm and the great food that is served here does not come out till 6:30) but the staff were all really helpful and understanding. It's only a short walk into town and not far from the cable car up the schmitten. Our kids loved the small pool, play area and petting farm. I loved the saunas and Steam rooms (I wish it were the norm in the UK to mandate nudity, it seems infinitely more natural/hygienic/comfotable). Wouldn't hesitate to return here if we are ever back in this beautiful part of the world. Loved it.

We have visited Zell frequently over the past 27yrs (summer and winter) and stayed in many of the larger hotels. Each hotel has been our favourite at different stages of our lives and we have only ever had great experiences in them all eg Tirolerhof for luxury, Zum Hirschen for food, Grauner Baum for value, but this is our current overall favourite. We have visited twice now with our two teenage daughters and just love the vibe and ambiance, wellness, decor, food etc. The reception staff in particular are a credit to the hotel and give exceptional customer service esp Anna and Julia. The owners Klaus and Christina are also brilliant at leading by example, they work so hard and always ensure everyone feels welcome. The rooms are spacious and very clean as are the bathrooms. The wellness facilities are great esp the salt grotto. The food is lovely and plentiful and the apres ski snack much appreciated. If I was to think of only one minor point it would be the puddings which are slightly disappointing and on the small side. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone of any age. Would love to return again next year ...just need to start saving!

Room tip: Comfort road side room was very spacious, good value and surprisingly quiet. Duplex room, pool view was very spacious

Lovely decor, helpful staff, good food, great location. What else is there to say. The rooms were nice and spacious with everything you need. When the snow is good, its possible to climb a small path and ski down to the lift. The staff could not do enough for us and were pleasant and friendly. A member of our party celebrated a Birthday while we were there and the hotel organised a lovely cake. Skiing was fab - all in all a lovely weekend and will certainly be back.

It's our first time heading to the snow with our little daughter (16 months) and we and another family (2 adults + 4yo+2yo) booked directly with Hotel Staff Wein. From our first contact they have been amazing to deal with, quick to answer and very obliging with alterations and requests. On our arrival we were picked up from the train station, shown the important locations around the town and brought to the hotel. The welcome was lovely and we arrived at afternoon tea time so the food was most welcome. The room we booked was a two bed with living area which was huge. It easily accommodated the 7 of us and was a pleasure to be in. The kids loved the secure balcony for running up and down in the fresh air. The hotel was spotless and the food was amazing at every meal. The selection and presentation was 5 star. The staff and other guests were all family orientated and it felt great being there. It's a top class hotel, with a top class service and should we go back to Zell am See it's exactly where we'll be staying. It is located only a couple of hundred metres from the City Express lift and has a bus stop out side the property to go to the others. You couldn't ask for better. On our departure early on Sat morning they arranged an early breakfast (full selection) and a taxi to the train. Excellent. It also has an pool, spa and children's playroom.
