We celebrated the Christmas Holidays with skiing in Zell am See and decided to book this hotel. We made the right choice. They just finished a complete renovation and development of this hotel. We got a spacious room in the newly built part. It was simple but equipped with all comfort, with a big terrace overlooking the lake. It was a bit far from the ski slope but we hired the hotel's taxi driver to take us the ski lift every day. Breakfast was a nice treat too, large selection of everything you might need to be prepared for a great day of skiing. Spa is small with different saunas, but it was great to spend an hour there every evening before dinner. We asked for half board. I would recommend that, they cook tasty local and international dishes. Staff members and the lady who is managing the place were guest friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place for everyone not only for winter sports, but for relax and tour around this area.

The only negative is that you have to park on a very busy bicycle path in a one way road. It is quite difficult to get in and especially out. In case there is no free place you have to look for a free place in the town and you have to pay for this. Otherwise excellent food, swimming, ideal for sport activities.

Room Tip: If you want a direct entry to the lake take the rooms downstairs.

WE stayed here for a week in Jan. 2010, located right on the lakesidew this family run hotel was more than we could have hoped for. the room had a balcony which over looked the lake, the lake was frozen and safe to walk on (the waiter said that he cycled to work each day across the lake!!
This is a hotel which has been extended over the years, and is a quirky mixture of old and new, most certainly not a modern soul-less concrete hostel. Staff very frendly and helpful. railway traffic was not a problim, as none of the room face that direction, food was excelent.

Third stay. Has been upgraded and I suspect a lot of money spent. Rooms good, most staff good and fantastic location ( best of any hotel anywhere in the world! ).

Slightly strange atmosphere. We were only European guests, rest from middle East. Apparently this is common. Not a problem as such but impossible to build up holiday friendships.

Only other problem the maitre d'. We did not meet her high standards for guests!

The location can't be beat. We had an awesome view of the lake from our room. Great staff, friendly and helpful.
We had booked half-board and would recommend you do the same if you want to eat-in. The food was incredible. I have no criticism of anything we ate from soup to dessert. I won't detail the food as I don't want to spoil the surprise for anyone else - but needless to say every course was perfectly balanced and delicious.
One thing that we did miss was coffee (the hotel provides only tea bags) for enjoying early morning in bed.
We will return.

I stayed at the hotel in January. The hotel had just been refurbished, my room was well appointed had a lovely shower, and the bed was comfortable, with very nice wood furnishings. My room opened straight onto the lake, very picturesque.

The staff couldn't be more welcoming and the food was delicious, very good variety.each evening and the breakfast buffet was plentiful, really good quality.

I appreciated the minibus, especially at the end of the day when I'm worn out, it's difficult to book in advance as personally I couldn't say what time I'd get to the bottom of blue 12, but you can ring them for a pick up.

I would have really enjoyed the use of a jacuzzi, but there is a sauna/steam room etc to use.

I thoroughly recommend this hotel and will happily stay there again when I revisit Zell am See.
